Product = model 15962 Problem = really bad smell

Product = model 15962 Problem = really bad smell We purchased this machine new in 2004. Approximately two or three years ago, we noticed a unusual smell. Husband took washer apart and found mold all over the inside of the plastic under the barrel part that holds the clothes. We cleaned it and the barrel and put it back together. It has the same smell again. Went to store where we purchased and asked about it. Was told to purchase a monthly cleaner and use it. Followed directions on package for a smell that was present - using all three tablets right after each other in hot water. Have also tried running an empty load with hot water and bleach. Neither helped lessen the smell. We also have another Kenmore top load washer that was made around 1985-1986 that my husband uses now for his work clothes only (ones that he doesn't want to mix with the rest of the family's clothes). We have never had this problem with it. Are there similar problems from others about this for this model? Is there something that we can do without having to take the washer apart again?
