The type ice makers made for your model and other models require no lubrication and are one of the most used parts of your refrigerator especially if there is a large family and lots of ice used daily. They never seem to stop working while the average refrigerator last 15 to 20 years the average life of an ice maker is only 5 years. Even ice makers that have replaceable parts the repair parts are more expensive in most cases than complete replacement. Below is an example of an average ice maker that Whirlpool and Maytag uses that have the Teflon coating in the ice slots. Your model is for GE,=> Model WR30X10093 Ice Maker and has electronic controls and no replaceable parts. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Whirlpool model # ed5vhexvq1 side by side ...ice maker will not dispense ice..water works but it sounds as if there is no power going to icemaker from dispenser

Does the icemaker bucket has ice cubes. If yes then your problem is in the dispensor. If no ice cubes on the icemaker bucket then your problem is with the ice maker unit.

Let say Ice cubes on the ice maker bucket and dispensor makes noise when pressing for ice cubes. Then either your ice dispensor flapper is frozen or may be ice cubes in bucket may have defrost and frozen again sticking together.

Freezer won't make ice cubes, but does provide cold water.

The water and ice maker are two seperate water control valves built onto the same. Your water control valve for the ice maker may be defective and require that you change the set. Fill ice maker with tap water and allow the water to freeze. If the ice maker dumps the ice into ice bin and then does not refill then this points to the water control valve. If the ice maker does nothing after water freezes then the problem is the ice maker. Send me a model number and I will look up the part numbers for you, Thanks, Sea Breeze

My ice maker doesn't make enough ice cubes

Is the ice maker itself filling normally, meaning where the cubes are made gets enough water to cover the complete area or just a few slots? If not then check the fill tube where the water comes into the ice maker to make sure no ice has formed blocking the water from coming in.
Now if ice production in general has slowed, going from every 45 minutes or so to like every 6 hours, then your machine more than likely isn't getting cold enough. The ice maker requires the temperature be at least 10 degrees F or below for it to function properly.

My scotman model sce170a1a.goes into harvest to

That has to be a faulty control wouldn't you think?
The cube size control should only be adjusted to
bring the cubes to the correct shape, the overall
size cannot be adjusted. Try to adjust the cube
size control when the ice machine is in the harvest
cycle, or in the first 10 minutes of the freeze cycle.
1. Open the door and remove the control box
cover.
2. Locate the cube size adjustment screw, and to
make fuller cubes, turn the screw clockwise about
1/4 turn. This will make the freezing cycle longer.
3. To shorten the freezing cycle and make cubes
that are not as full, turn the adjustment screw 1/4
turn counterclockwise.
4. After the next freezing cycle, the cubes should
have responded to the adjustment, if another
adjustment is required, do it early in the freeze
cycle.

Ice maker dispenses cruched ice in cube ice mode

You have a solenoid switch which switches the dispenser back and forth from crushed to cube. It could be stuck or not working or the parts connecting it could be disconnected or broken. You will have to observe to see if any parts are moving and if any noise is coming from the solenoid.
With your model number I can find a diagram which may help.

I have a GE Profile Side by side that is working fine except the ice maker won't dump the frozen ice cubes in the tray. Another party in the house decided it would be a good idea to put water in the tray...

The ice maker is basically frozen. There are two fixes for this condition. If you can transfer all of the food out to another appliance you can unplug and open the doors and let it completely defrost on its own.

the other method is to use a blow dryer. When you have completely defrosted the ice maker and thoroughly dryed it spray the ice cube tray with pam cooking spray which will act as a lubricant. When you are ready to make ice again expect the ice maker to take about 24 hours before the first batch of ice cubes are ejected.

Cubes won't dump into the storage bin

In photo below you can see the heating element that comes on moments before the ice maker drops the ice. If not working then the icemaker will struggle to unload. You need to unplug the refrigerator and then unpluge the ice maker and remove it to test these parts. Test with a multi meter or ohm meter. Test the 2 connections next to the number #26. Hope this helps, Sea Breeze
