Dell latitude c400 sound probel

Heloo, The dell latitude c400 laptop i own, the sound does not work, it is nothing like the speakers are broke because it does a default sound, its just nothing else like windows media player for example.. please help me lol ive been looking everywhere o and when my mother had this laptop before i think she said it worked till we put windows xp on..hope that is some help xx

First check the sound settings, it could just need adjusting. If the settings are correct, then you have a driver glitch, uninstall the sound drivers from the device manager, then reboot. The machine will find the sound card and reinstall the drivers automatically. Then check Dell's support site for updated sound drivers.

I want restore all setting of my laptop dell c400 bcoz my speaker is not working...i change many window xp....plz help me

If yoi want to do a system restore...go to start then all programs...accesseries...system tool..in system tools you will see system restore..and if you want to do a factory image restore then you need a restore or recovery disc..insert that restart the conputer ..press f12 select cd-dvd rom hit enter then follow the instructuons to do the restore...and if sound is not working then check the drivers for the sound in device manger

at this location you will find and be able to download an cd in image format ..probably ISO ..you have to burn it on a cd ..and use it al the time you reinstall ..I understood that there are all the drivers you need for your model Good luck!

Sound

I would venture a guess (not knowing anything about your particular model) there is one of two volume controls on the unit itself:

- Part of the keyboard, generally bearing a speaker insignia of some kind. If it's part of another key (ex. the up/down arrows) you may need to hold the Fn key down while simultaneously pressing the aforementioned keys.

- Somewhere along the sides or the front, a rotary device of sorts. Something like you might find on a walkman or discman to adjust the volume.

If not either of those then perhaps a hardware issue of some kind.
