The 199A is not designed to be a wireless controller. It was designed long before wireless control of flash units was available in consumer flash units. You'll need to use the built-in flash, a more modern Canon (or compatible) controller, or some other wireless setup (possibly radio).
Bruce, Try these steps: 1. Set camera to manual2. Set shutter to 1/60 3. Set aperture to F5.6 4. ASA/ISO 200 5. 550EX on hotshoe 6. Do not set on slave or master 7. Turn on flash
Display must shows, ETTL. If that doesn't work, you have to use the flash on manual. Some of this model will not work fully on ATG Canon EOS-1D C, ATG Canon EOS-1D X IR, Canon EOS-1D X/60D/T4i because this flash is over 20 years old.
Unless you would want it to be modified by me. But that can be costly when you can get the 580EX II for less than $425.00 USD.
You probably haven't calibrated your monitor to show the correct colours, so in whatever photo programme you're using, you're setting the red tones too high. Test this by first not calibrating your monitor, but turning down all the red tone until it looks washed out. Print this and see if it's better. If so, set your monitor to a cooler colour temperature. If the result is no better, check your print dialogue settings to make sure you are using an appropriate colour profile. And, for example, if you're using Photoshop, tick 'let Photoshop manage colours' in the advanced profile settings box. Hope this helps. I doubt there's anything wrong with the printer.
You didn't say what camera model you are using. If you have 7D/60D/T4i you can have a total of 3 wireless ir flashes.
580EX II must be set at Master, say Group A & Channel 1 Two 270EX II must be set at Slave, say Group A & Channel 1 or One 270EX II set at Group A & Channel 1 Second 270EX II set Group A & Channel 2
Then go into camera menu & turn off Master flash & turn settings for those two flashes.

You do not use lubricant on printers. Clean all roller and bars with Q tip and acohol. Make sure alcohol is squeezed out so it does not drip inside printer. The noise should stop. If it does not it is the belt that drives the capstans (rollers) that is worn out.
