Question about Baldor 8" 1 Hp Electric Bench Grinder

2 Answers

I have an old Craftsman bench grinder that I got at an auction. I need a capacitor and the one on it has no markings. It is a 1hp model 319.19063. Sears Parts direct says that it is no longer available and there is no suggested replacement. HELP, I don't want to junk this, it is a great tool. Thanks, Jim

My question was meant to get some information, not told where to go to get info. I checked on grangers and everywhere else before I started to pay for an answer. 80 to 290 MFD is a fairly large range, since ratings are generally 10 to 20 MFD on any given capacitor.

This is a "Split-Phase"motor it uses only a run capacitor and a typical capacitance rated MFD rating will be between 80 and 290 MFD, go to www. grainger..com and they will have your part, and even if its an older unit and the model/serial/number is available take it with you & they will have a replacement capacitor available in the correct size/dimension/mfd/etc

Take your grinder to a motor repair shop in your town for a replacement cap. I am sure a motor repair facility can install a cap of the proper value to return your Craftsman Grinder to its original specs. BTW - this grinder is worth repairing ... not like the run of the mill grinders available to the consumer today.

My craftsman bench grinder running for 5 min blows the breaker

Feel the power cord when that happens. If the power cord doesn't get pretty warm, and the grinder itself doesn't get awfully hot, then I'd suspect the breaker - they get old and trip too easily.

I have a 1/3 hp motor with a capacitor. There are four motor leads coming out of motor, the capacitor is mounted in the wiring box. This motor does not have a centrifugal switch, to isolate the capacitor...

I am in the process of replacing a capacitor on a Craftsman 6 in 1/3 grinder, 2.8 amp, single phase, 110v. Not sure on the centrifugal switch. model 319.190621, ser B9530. When I took the old one out the black wire from the capacitor went to the cluster of back wires (in my case 3) in the wire nut. The blue wire from the grinder went to red wire from the capacitor in a wire nut. Hope that helps you....

Maybe you can help me... the specs on the capacitor burned off when it failed. Can you tell me what the capacitor specs are on yours?

Have 25 year old Wilton belt grinder. Belts seem to wobble when running then will just not track. Not sure what part needs replacement.

The motor and grinder pulleys need to be perfectly parallel or the belt will track to one side or the other. The belt must be uniform with no stretch or wear points which will cause erratic travel. Hope this helps!

I need a replacement switch for a craftsman 1/2 HP bench grinder model#397.19441. I have no owners manual or parts list. This grinder is several years old.

this switch is no longer available from Sears, so I suggest making a wiring drawing and taking the switch to a local electrical supply house and try matching it up with a replacement. It seems to be a simple on/off type switch and I would think that you should have no problem. Let me know if you do and give me the information on the switch and I will try some other sites I know.
