I loaded win 7 on a Toshiba Protege A215 S7437 laptop. everything worked but a message was being seen that some compatibility issues were with win7 and current BIOS. I went to Toshiba website and downloaded machine specific BIOS update and installed it form windows. computer shut self off and rebooted to a black screen. can't same to get it do anything else. is this laptop dead or can BIOS upgrade be undone.

For that you need to reset factory defaults settings for bios.
For reset bios u have to open back side of your laptop then u find motherbord circuit there.
pull cmos cell on motherbord for 15 minute then it reset to defaults.
Also u can reset with jumper settigns read carefully on mother bord there is 1 jumper near cmos cell u read there " bios reset or clear"
It is on 1-2 position right now set it in 2-3 position then power up then all bios settings are reset.
then again set it in 1-2 its original position.
Then it not want password.

from release it doesn't have a bios password, the shop who slod the laptop to you must have put the password in, or maybe someone you know put it in. the only way you are going to get around this is to ether give the password from who put it in or take it to a IT shop and have them remove the bios battary overnight and then put it in again. that will remove all password settings and change all bios settings back to default settings

that is a bios password it is a common problem when bios software isnever updated. it is covered under an exception code i believe. email me your model part number and i will tell you the rest of the process monday. or if you want to do it yourself the pin is located under the ram, it looks like two interlocking E's take a flathead and press in between the two

there is no actual password. you need to remove the ram and short out two pins underneath the black plastic they look ike two E's connected like E3. use a flat blade screwe driver. do this while powered off!
