Hi, i would start by making sure the fuel is on if that is an option on your saw. Then makes sure there is nothing obstructing the flow of fuel from the tank to the carb. You can check the lines by draining the tank the blow thru the tank with an airhose and make sure air is coming from the delivery line that hooks to the carb. if all checks out there, then you my hve a gasket on backwards inside the crb or your fuel flow screw needs adjusted. You can check to see if the carb has gas by gently loosining the drain bolt on the bottom. Another option is removeing the air filter and dumping a small amount of gas directly into the carb and see if it starts then. If it does then yo have a problem with fuel delivery from the tank to the carb into the cylinder head. Hope this helps.

One more try before I trash it. I have a poulan p3314 chainsaw. It is 2 years old. Installed new carb, fuel lines, air filter, and spark plug. Fuel is routed properly. Can't get unit to fire. Any ideas.

Check the gap between the magneto and the magnet on the flywheel, if it is too much of a gap you wont get spark. We are talking .007 inches or less. You need a feeler gauge to set this

Poulan 2250 woodmaster chainsaw fuel line

It is very importent which pipes you have connected to the primer bulb, the bulb pulls fuel from the carb and dumps it back to the tank, if you connect the the pipes up the other way it will force fuel throught the carb and fill the cylinder with fuel.

I have a poulon pro 42cc saw that wont start. dont think its getting gas cuz i tried to flood it with the primer but no gas on the spark plug.

The primer will not flood it, all the primer does on these saws is pushes fuel through the carb. If this is a new saw, it needs a carb adjustment, a very common problem on poulan products these days. It's covered by the warranty at any of their service dealers (you can locate one on poulan's website).
How old is the gas you are using? If the mixture is more than 30 days old, make a new mix and try again.
Check for spark. Pull the boot off of the plug. Hold the boot near something metal and pull the starter. If you see a spark, you are good. If you don't, you may have a problem with the coil.

Cannot get the saw to start, even with starter fluid. Checked fuel line, compression, new fuel,....Yard sale item, new spark plug in saw. Don't know if it's right, but sparks when starting

I assume you have installed a new spark plug. Most common problem is the fuel pump diaphram in the carbuerator goes bad. Rebuild the carb in that case... about $20 for the kit... Last problems are the magneto coil or that the flywheel key has sheared causing timing to be off.

Poulan wood shark 1950 wont start spark plug has

Try to squirt a little gas in the carb and see if it pops or tries to run for a short time. The diaphram in the carb is probably old and hard. That would be the first place I would look.

Poulan saw wont start has spark and fuel

Look for a pinched/bare stop-switch wire (I assume that you don't have spark now). Also, check the ignition coil core gap to the flywheel magnets (I use card stock to set the gap). Make sure the plug wire was not damaged again.

My poulan riding mower goes dead whether cutting or idling..already checked the gas tank, lines, filter, and carb for trash..all clean...what could be the problem?

Could be bad ignition system. Check for spark when it quits using a new spark plug. Why do you suspect the fuel system? Does the engine quit suddenly or sputter to a stop? Does the engine have to get hot before it will quit? Sudden stop is usually ignition loss whereas sputtering could be either fuel or spark loss. Safety switches--'rider present'--could possibly be a problem and cause ignition loss.

My poulan wont start any suggestions

Plugged fuel line or carb due to sitting with fuel in tank. Drain tank and back flush line, changing filter if there is one. Inject some compressed air into fuel line from carb.jet screw hole, thus blowing out line toward tank. May have to also use some carb.cleaner in same area.
Prevention: Always shut off fuel line and run carb dry before storing unit. If storing a long time, remove all fuel as gasoline will not keep long, esp. in the carb.
Best wishes!
