MY lights come on but the LCD screen is blank and it is beeping. Please help

Check that the LCD screen adjustment has not been dimmed or darkened. If that is not the case, then a component is or has most likely failed.

Its not my monitor its my modem, when i try to turn it on all it does is go beeeeep beeeeep beeeepan it wont do anything else? can you help?

The beeps are coming form your computer tower chassis. Your computer either wants you to remove and clean the contacts on the graphics card or it wants you to remove the RAM modules and clean the contacts. Install one at a time in alternating slots. To test if maybe one of the RAM modules is faulty.

See my published guide entitled My Computer is not turning on!!! Is it dead!!! No POST!!!

Take care!

Beeeeep beep beep sounds on start

The beep comes when the RAM is not detceted by the Mainboard during the system start up. It's usually accompanied by no display on the Monitor.

Open the Notebook and remove the RAM and place it back again and check if it work. you can even try by inserting the RAM in different slot too.

If the problem still persists, replace the RAM.

That's it.

Back screen (no screen) upon powering my T60 thinkpad

  1. Take out your battery and the power button for about 60secs.
  2. Start the laptop using the Adapter [without the battery]
  3. Lighten up your laptop...remove any external device attached [printer, scanner, pen drives etc.].
  4. It could also be a RAM problem, try changing the RAM if you have two start with one and exchange them.Clean the edges of the RAM where it get fits into the slots and blow some air in the slots to clean it up of any dirt.
After that when the system starts you can do the system restore START--ALL PROGRAMS--ACCESSORIES--SYSTEM TOOLS--SYSTEM RESTORE to restore it back to an earlier date when laptop was ok. THEN LATER ON PUT THE BATTERY BACK IN.
  • Try restarting after an hour gap.
  • If this doesn't solve your problem call the company people.Their might be a Video Card problem or any other internal hardware problem.

When i switch on the my thinkpad it starts to boot up then the screen goes blank the battery light goes orange and and flashes and it makes a cranking noise.

Is the Battery making the cranking noise? If so the battery is telling you the battery is dying. I have a IBM ThinkPad 380Z and when on the charger it makes a beeeeep noise and goes off and on for almost the entire day and then stops and keeps a solid orange battery light on.
Try booting without battery
