There is a shorted happening when the magnetron release energy. The problem of that is the waveguide already not in focus (already have a big hole on it) hence it scattered the microwave wave elsewhere inside the unit and also to its own metal casing. That cause's to arcing when operating.
Waveguide hole needed to be replace and it need some cleaning & painting of the affected metal (usually near around the magnetron waveguide). Once it's done the unit will not arcing again.
I do hope I answer your problem. Thanks for asking.

Arcing and flashing during cooking cycle

Arcing and flashing either has to do with having metal parts inside that are not chromed perfectly (better yet only put metal in if it's a microwave convection oven on convection setting only), or some of the powder coating on the inside of the cabinet is damaged. Or a twist tie etc was inside during use. If the cabinet is damaged dispose of unit.

Sharp 1870 just quit cooking and no turntable

The fact that the microwave and convection both do not heat indicated that the oven is in demo mode, check the user manual, otherwise it will possibly be a relay not triggering, may need a pcb replacement, check Demo mode 1st....Phil

Arcing

My Advantium was arching at the turntable. Replaced the turntable roller assembely (that hold the metal or glass plate) and the arching went away.
