Where is a 1989 nissan z24 4 wheel drive fuel regulator located? starter went bad, replaced it, fuel line had a leak, replaced it, fuel pump wont push fuel through it, bought a new one and now the truck wont start and the air has been pushed through the line. Truck was running fine up till the replacing of the starter (had to roll start it till starter was replaced) all the above happened one after another in one day. Think it might be the fuel regulator but cant find it. Need help! any ideas?

Fuel reg. is connected to the fuel rail where the return line is connected, my thoughts are you mentioned air in your lines.. crack open fuel lines and run fuel pump to release air from lines. Pump then should prime all lines must be primed turn engine over to release air ( No Smoking) then tighten lines. fuel rail might have valve, (looks like tire valve) if so it is recommended that air is relieved at air valve

Location of fuel pressure regulator on 2006 dodge caravan 3.3

Replace fuel pump and filter that is not a regulator problem.
Bad fuel regulator will cause vehicle to surge at cruise speed or they leak and cause engine to suck excessive fuel into intake if vacuum control then blows black smoke.

Check to ensure fuel pump fuse hasn't burned out. Try spraying starting fluid directly into the throttle body to see if it tries to catch.

How to change a 2005 nissan sentra fuel pressure regulator

If you want to replace the fuel pump regulator you are better off getting the whole fuel pump module I know its expensive. The problem is you went on line and there is a bunch of chatter about the fuel pump causing delayed starts. They are right. There is a TSB Nissan put out this includes the fuel pump and there is no mention of the regulator that I know of.

1991 Olds cutlass supreme 3.1 started fine and drove fine for about 7-10 miles. I shut it off and went back to start it 5 minutes or less later and it turns over like it wants to start but then just stops...

Your problem may be one of the following:
First check or just replace the fuel filter. Usually located under the car in front of the rear axle, drivers side.
Next, the fuel pump may be worn out. Usually they just stop working (running).
Next, check the fuel pressure regulator. Usually located on the front fuel rail, drivers side.
Is the vacuum line attached? Not leaking or rotted?
Also, do you smell a strong fuel odor when it wont start? May be one or more stuck-open injectors, or the coil pack is bad.
Checking these in the order listed will more than likely fix your problem.
The clicking noise indicates the battery can no longer run the starter, which also means the fuel pump wont run either.

When you turn the key on excessive fuel flows into the air intake. its a 1989 6 cylinder 3.1 fuel injected

You could have either an injector that is stuck open or a fuel pressure regulator that has developed a leak. A leaky injector will usually only leak fuel into one cylinder as it is located just above the intake valve in the lower part of the intake while a leaky fuel pressure regulator will leak fuel into the front end of the intake manifold [behind the throttle plates] and the fuel will acuumulate throughout the upper intake plenum. When a fuel pressure regulator develops a leak the fuel that is escaping from it flows through the small 1/8" diameter plastic vacuum line which goes from the top of the regulator to the intake manifold. Even a trace of fuel in this line means the regulator is bad. I've seen both leak items leak but probably replace 10 regulators leak for every one injector. Good luck, hope you find your problem!
