Considering the amplifier specifications, that can be checked in this catalog:

http://phaseonedist.com/Car%20Audio/Catalogs/2011%20Planet%20Audio.pdf

the maximum RMS power delivered per channel is 1300 W @ 2 ohms, for a total 2600 W. Although this "2 ohms" specification refers to the impedance and not resistance of the speakers, for a quick practical calculation, let's assume they are equivalent. So, for the given data, the maximum current flowing through each speaker would be:

P = R x I²

1300 = 2 x I²

I² = 1300 / 2 = 650

I = ?650

I = 25,5 A per channel

So, both channels would be requiring a current flowing from the amplifier to ground of around 51 A.

Considering that the rest of the amplifier circuit uses some power for its own functioning and part of it is also dissipated in the form of heat, let's make a guess that it need some 10% more more current, what would give us some 56 Amps being drawn from the car battery/generator power system. As you will be using it inside a car, let's assume the temperature under the hood can be around 60 ?C and as the car is not that big, we will not need to consider voltage drop in the cable.

The ampacity chart for AWG wires and cables (http://wiki.xtronics.com/index.php/Wire-Gauge_Ampacity) indicate us that an AWG #6 wire would do the trick, for both the positive and negative leads. If you want to give an extra safety margin, you could use AWG #4 cable, but I think that would not be necessary.

Hope this info can help you!

Here are your specs. RMS 900 Watts Nominal and Max 1300 on 2 Channel @ 2 Ohms.
4 Gauge should do fine but if you like to feed the beast go with 2 gauge.
Looks like going rate is $110 on Amazon or elsewhere.
If it attains the RMS wattage it would be a good amp. I like monoblocks but
you will pay more. I looked into Tri-Mode and it is straight forward but people
are having problems figuring it out. With your 2 speaker operation you should
avoid the issues others are having.
Good luck and remember, rearview mirrors were meant to fall off!
Mine: JL 1800A monoblock into 2-JL 12" W3's in series for low bass 20-80 Hz; Lanzar Vibe 266 bridged into 2-12" Memphis in series for mid bass 40-200m Hz. 2 guage wire to mononblock-250 amp fused at battery, 4 guage to Vibe w/250 amp at battery.

Planet audio

Sounds like your power supply to the amp. Make sure you location has plenty of air flow around it and use at least 10 gauge wire to the power input. Same size on the ground and make sure all contacts are clean. Your alternator will run hot when the sound is cranked and the car is moving. The heat lowers the amperage output of the alternator and will cause the amp to cut in and out.

How to connect wires to amp

Most amps have 3 places where you need to hook up wires to power them. the 1st is a ground wire that at best is 1 foot long and it goes on the ground or negative 12 volt connection then a bolt on the car you may need to sand off the paint for it to work, 2 a RMT or remote wire that is normally in the middle of the power and the ground connections the remote turns the amp on and off so it needs to go to the remote wire on the radio or a ignition spot on the fuse box - turns on with key on and off when you turn the key off , 3 the power wire is hopefully large 4 gauge wire and goes to the + 12 volt plug on the amp this wire has a in line fuse and goes to the battery and to the amp only. RCA wires go from the radio to the amp and are round and just plug in with no screws some factory radios need a conversion kit you can get at walmart for RCA wires. the speaker wires have some sort of mark or line to tell you what to put were like if you put the line on a negative on the amp you need to put the line on the negative on the speaker box to or it will not bass and could hurt your amp. ask me if you need anything else :) and please rate :/

I installed a planet audio TW402 amp in my car. i put this amp last summer. when i first put it in my car with an sony xplod sub. i had a very small 12 gauge power wire and ground wire. but still it worked...

It could have to do with how your speakers are wired. If you have 2- 4 ohm speakers and they
are both wired to one terminal (RIGHT OR LEFT) on the amp, you have a 2 ohm load and most amps are rated at 4 ohms.
Go to this site and use #58 on the right sidebar to see if you are wired correctly.

My amp keeps blowing its fuses whenits plugged in

Go over all your wiring. Make sure your power wire isn't grounded somewhere. If your power wire is touching any bare metal it will spark and blow the fuse the second you touch the power to your amp. Make sure your in-line fuse is about a foot from your battery, and make sure you have your ground wire grounded securely to the main chassis of the car/truck and that it is either same size gauge as your power or even a little bit bigger gauge. Also make sure no strands of wire from your ground or power wire are loose and reaching over touching the other where you plug them into the amp. If the ground and power touch eachother they will blow the fuse and possibly cause permanent damage to the amp.

Sony Xplod XM-1652Z Car Audio Amplifier cuts out when turned up loud

The best thing to do is to get a amp that is more watts than your subs, not the other way around, speakers are known to handel a lil more power but amps cant produce more power than they are capable of... your ground wire should be thick also, say 6 to 8 mm or so, and its best to put in a cap and an equalizer.
Cheers
