My Toshiba 55HT1U is showing 480p instead of 1080p. Why is it not on 1080p?

It is probably your video source. If you are using component video, some devices only output 480p.

Check the settings of your sources. The TV will display only what the device sends to it.

In most devices under a settings directory there will be settings labeled "Video" or "Resolution" Changing these settings to more appropriate High Definition resolutions should solve your problem.

I have a sharp TV and an trying to CD an Amazon fire stick. TV keeps responding...incomparable video signal...help

The stick is set to 1080p your sharp tv cannot show 1080p change it to 480p in settings , you will have to use it in another tv than is capable of showing 1080p, then just change it to 480p , then you should be able to use it on the sharp tv. You can then try to change it to 720p if it says the same about the signal leave it for 30 seconds and it will revert back to 480p

Have a hiteker 37" how do you change from 480p to 1080p

The set should do this automatically depending on what is connected for signal and where.

1080p tv stays in 480p mode

Resolution is a slave to the source. It sounds as though the source is only outputting 480p. Go through the menu settings of the source device(bluray, cable, satellite box, game system) and set it to output 1080.

TOSHIBA 55HT1U only shows 480i resolution instead of 1080p ( Cable TV) shud be at least 720p

Your set will automatically be in the correct resolution. If your set is broadcasting in 480, then that is what it is receiving. I would check your cable or satellite box to verify they are putting out the correct resolution.

I own an insignia 42"

The TV resolution is set by the video sources, not at the TV, in this case, your Dish network box is the one that is sending out 480p so the TV will display what it is being fed with.
What does Dish TV say aboyt this problem? How about the setup menu on the Dish network box?
Your TV works the same as your PC monitor, except that your monitor does not have a tuner, you adjust the resolution at the PC not at the monitor. 480p in = 480p display.

Please leave rating if it helps.

Switch from 480i to 1080p

The resolution is controlled by your video sources, if you feed it with 480p, it will display in 480p. You do not control it at the TV, it works the same as your PC monitor, which is controlled by the PC video card resolution setting.

Tv is showing 480p and we want it at 1080p on our new Toshiba 40XV648 40-Inch 1080p 120Hz HD LCD TV Cinema Series.

After searching the owners manual I find that there is nothing mentioned about the screen resolution i.e. 480p to 1080p.

This set is capable of your desired resolution and as far as I can tell it auto selects because it senses the input video and decides which is the best setting for that source.

It's important to understand that you need 1080p video to use it at it's full capabilities. It won't give you a 1080p resolution from a VCR or a standard DVD player. You need a DVD player that is capable of producing a 1080p encoded video. Some satellite receivers are capable of that but you need to make sure you know what resolution that you are sending to the television.

Local TV stations won't usually broadcast HD at 1080p. Your best bet is to use a DVD player that is capable of that high resolution for your best picture.

Please note that what it says in the owners manual about "Resolution" has nothing to do with the 480p, 720p or 1080p signals, your set selects that automatically it will start by selecting the 1080p then goes to 720p then 420p it's dependent on the video you send to the set.

Please note the "resolution" function is actually like a "sharpness" control.

Your video input (tuner, VCR, DVD, games and etc.) is likely your problem.
