You will have to do a factory reset, which will restore the default settings on your device.

1) With the device powered off, press and hold the Volume Up and Power buttons at the same time.
2) When you see the Samsung logo, release the Power button, but continue to hold Volume Up until the recovery screen appears.
3) Use the Volume buttons to navigate the menu and select wipe data / factory reset. Press Home to choose the selection.
4) Press Volume Up to continue.

Go to menu -> settings -> display and look to see if the "auto-rotate screen" option is checked.
If that doesn't work, try restarting. See if it works in browser.
Good luck!

If it keeps from rotating there may be an issue with your logic board. can get the part at Galaxy Tab Repair and there is a guide that shows you how to put in the part at Galaxy Tab Repair Guide.

How to get my tablet to start rotating again. It is set to auto rotate but it won't stop working.

This varies by operating system which is why it is a good idea to post the brand, model, and operating system with a query.

For a Samsung Galaxy 10.1:

Type apps is the upper right corner. Then tap Settings from the all tab. Then in the left menu, tap screen. Then, tap auto rotate
For the Inspiron Dell 2-in-1 with Windows 10:

Go to Control Panel> Display>Change Display Settings and then make sure that the "Allow the screen to auto-rotate" is selected. Or try the following: Place the tablet into Pad/Tablet mode.
Click the Start Start menu and select Settings. Click System.
Click Display. Scroll down and toggle Lock rotation of this display to ON.

Or this might help:

Click the Start Start menu and select Settings. Scroll down and toggle Lock rotation of this display to OFF.

Hello,
Auto Rotation
  1. To open the Notification Panel, swipe down from the top of the screen.
  2. To stop the rotation, touch Auto rotate in the Quick Setting Panel.
  3. Depending on the screen orientation when touching the Auto rotate icon, the icon changes the screen to either Landscape or Portrait.

go to settings, then "touch on display", then touch "when device is rotated", a screen should pop up, touch on "rotate contents of screen", it should now rotate.

How can I get the screen to rotate over to the correct position?

You might have your Orientation Lock on. If you are using iOS 7 or 8, swipe up from the bottom and disable Orientation Lock (http://cdn.osxdaily.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/stop-screen-rotation-orientation-lock-ios-7.jpg)

Alternately, the switch on the side of your iPad might be set to Lock Rotation, so go to Settings > General and see if Use Side Switch To: is set to Lock Rotation. This would mean that whenever the switch above the volume controls is down, the orientation is locked.

How do I remove volume icon from the middle of my iPad screen?

You might try this...you can set your side button on upper left corner edge of ipad to either mute volume or lock screen (stop it from rotating). Check how yours is set...Go into settings>general>Use side switch to:
see if it is set on mute. If it is switch it to Lock Rotation. Now that side switch will lock or unlock screen rotation.
See if that might stop your volume icon from popping up. Good luck!
