I burned a CD on my PC to keep in my car and it plays OK in the car and on my PC, but does not play on my Technics SL-PD687 5 disc cd player. It's recorded in *.cda format and it's on a CD-RW. Any suggestions about why it plays on my PC and in my car, but not on my Technics player? Thanks - Ben.

The problem with old CD Players are that they sometimes are a little fidgety when it comes to reading CDRs.

You could try burning a new CD on the lowest possible setting, say 2x or 4x.

Also try changing the CDR brand as some cheap CDRs are prone to not reading in old CD Drives.

Try using a regular CD-R (CD recordable - record only once) instead of a CD-RW (CD rewritable - rewrite multiple times). CD-RW use a different "ink" to write the data to the disc and can be re-recorded/erased a couple of times before it loses its ability to write effectively to it.

I have a technics SL-CH505 compact disc but it will not play burnt CD;s any suggestions my other technics SL PG 400A plays them noproblem

The Optical Pickup(laser) may be weak. It takes much more power to record than play, which I guess it works.

I have a Technics CD changer SL-PD867 it will not play re writable disc's all other disc ok

You should realize that this player is about 20 years old.
It was not designed to read CD-R or CD-RW media.
The signal from these media types is different from audio CDs you buy.

I have a Technics CD changer SL-PD867 it will not play re writable disc's any other disc ok

Not all CD players can or will play CD's burned in a PC. Sometimes the CD player is to old, so not compatible with these CDs. Sometimes the player just does not play these CD's, because of rights protection.
A CD burned in a PC is less reflective than an normal music CD. Normal CD's do have a metal coating and are highly reflective. Burned CD's have a dye, and where the laser burned the dye, it only changed colour. Making it less reflective.
All modern CD playes should be capable of playing CD r's. But the player that is really compatible, is labelled CDr and CDrw compatible.

Disc will not play appears to be skipping

There is a product called a cd/dvd lens cleaning disc. Worth the investment to have around.

Be sure discs are free of dust and scratches.
