No picture no sound it blink 6 times. what is the problem

If you turn it on and the, Power/Standby green light blinks slow 6 times; then it becomes a red fast blink 6 times, pause, then continues to blink red fast 6 times, again and again. this means when it's blinking 6 times is indication of electrical circuitry malfunction. The Television will need service.

The TV is going to protection mode due to secondary power failure in the video out section and this is a case to be handled by a qualified service technician.

Call a tech and have him diagnose the problem. The 6 blinks narrows the issue down to a couple parts. He will be able to quote you a price.

does the tv make noise or have any picture

6 blinks means lamp thermal fuse blowing, replace thermal fuse.

was there a smell? it might be main transformer the front blinking led means the set in is safety mode and wont boot up because of a fault

I get 5 blinking red lights for about a minute or so before it powers back down. The Sony TV has a specific light that i presume is supposed to light up when the bulb is out. I'm unsure if this is what it is.
no picture, no sound. tries to boot with green light blinking a few times. then goes to red blinking light, six in all, then waits a few moments, then another 6 blinking red light.
Bulb was already replaced several months ago but we do have the TV on for long periods of time.
