Place a white piece of paper about 1000mm in front of the screen and focus the image sharply.
Choose menu, image, advanced then select color manager.
go through the color options and check if some pixels are permanently on or off (ie small dots or black) instead of a uniform colour on the screen.
The DLP chip is most likely the faulty component
I also Believe most of times the DLP chip will is the problem. Because you saying "Like sky with starts."
It means when you look very closed clear focused on paper. You can see Blinking Pixels.
If "Yes" Most of time DLP is bad now... I had some DLP chips on my store... If you give me the exact model of your Projector I may can send you one...
Is replacing the chip pretty easy?
