Use a wired connection or laptop that already connects and go to the routers setup menu. Under security you will find the password or can reset to a new one that you will write down.

I have several books in my que on my kindle fire that wont open. I paid for them as far back as last April

What does it say when you try to open them?

Per Amazon: If your book won't open, there may have been an error downloading the book.
To download the book again:
  1. Connect to Wi-Fi.
  2. From Home, tap My Library, and then tap the Downloaded tab.
  3. Press and hold the title of the Kindle book, and then tap Delete This Book.
  4. Tap the Menu icon, tap Settings, tap the Menu icon again, and then tap Restart.
  5. After your Kindle restarts, tap the All tab, and then tap the title of the Kindle book to download it again.
Amazon has several suggestions other than the one I listed above. Here is a link to another suggestion:

I have a kindle fire I cant open the books to read it was fine until last week everything else is working fine mary levy

Book Won't Open

Your book won't open on your Kindle (5th Generation), or there's an error when you try to open a book.
Before you perform these steps, make sure that your Kindle is connected to a wireless network. To learn more, go to Connect to Wi-Fi.
There may have been an error with downloading the book. Remove the title from your device, restart your device, and then download the book again.

  1. From Home, select the book or content to be deleted and press the left side of the 5-way controller.
  2. Select Remove from Device.
  3. From the Home screen, press the Menu button and select Settings.
  4. Press the Menu button again and select Restart.
  5. After your device restarts, navigate to your Archived Items, and download the book again

My kindle is unable to download books or magazines now.

Well, i suggest that you just root it and install Kinology. It worked just fine for me. Or you just instal Cyanogen mod 12.1. Worst case Scenario, Factory reset. Wipe it all.

I am unable to load new books onto my kindle

There are only three ways to load books onto your Kindle: (1) download them from Amazon via an account (using Wifi or 3G connection), (2) email them to your Kindle the unique email address for your Kindle which is assigned to you by Amazon at the time of registration, or (3) download the ebook file from a computer using the USB cable.

To email books to your Kindle or to download them via USB cable you must know the location of the ebook (which is typically a .MOBI file) and you must be computer-savvy enough to be able to either attach the ebook file to the email or to copy it to the 'document' folder of the USB connected Kindle.

I have a loaned book but am unable to see it on my Kindle list. I have accepted the loaned book but cannot see it on my list

Borrow from a Friend You can borrow a Kindle book from a friend. When the book is available, you will receive an e-mail notification that will allow you to download the book to your Fire tablet, Kindle device, or Kindle reading app.

To download your borrowed book:
  1. Open the e-mail message "A Loaned Book for You."
  2. Click the Get your loaned book now button. Your web browser will automatically launch to Amazon so you can accept the loan.
  3. Sign in to your Amazon account.
    • If you have a Fire tablet, Kindle device, or Kindle reading app, select which device you would like the book to be delivered to, and then click Accept loaned book.
    • If you do not have a Fire tablet, Kindle device, or Kindle reading app, click Accept loaned book and follow the on-screen instructions to download a free Kindle reading app.

Ordered a book today. Have receipt and supposedly is downloaded to my kindle but I can't find. Cannot get released from previous book just finished. What do I do??

Hi, a few suggestions:

Have you got more than one kindle - or had one before? I'd so make sure correct kindle selected when you order online (there is a 'drop down' box you can select when ordering)

Is your Kindle connected to wifi?

Try going to home and selecting 'on cloud' - you should see all books in your Kindle account and tapping one will down load it.

From Amazon Web page I think K you can go back to your old orders and tell it to resend to your Kindle.

Not sure what you mean by 'cannot get released from current book' - that could be core of the problem? You should be able to press at top of screen and then select home icon to go to main page and see all your books (Note option to select on develop downloaded items and on cloud for everything!)

Let me know if any of that helps, if not try to explain more what you can see and do.

Error message when downloading a book to my Amazon Kindle app. I can not get the Sync to go through keeps saying sync failed

Tap on your menu tab, go to Settings, Device Options, Personalize Your Kindle, then Advanced options. If the Whispersync component in not enabled, tap on it and enable it. If your books are still not syncing, your Whispersync Device Synchronization is most likely disabled on your Amazon account.

here are some tips to try:
1. Shut down and restart your device (you'd be surprised how often this fixes most problems).
2. Disconnect and reconnect your wireless connection and then confirm that wireless is working.
3. If the book or app gets stuck downloading partway, select to delete it from your Kindle app or device and then try re-downloading it from the cloud section.
4. Go to the Manage Your Content and Devices page at Amazon to find the ebook or app that won't download and select the "Actions" field to choose to "Deliver" the title to a specific device. Or you can choose to download and transfer it to your device from a computer with a USB cable.
5. If you don't see the book or app on the Your Content and Devices list, you can check to make sure the order was completed in the Digital Orders section of Your Orders at Amazon.
6. If none of the above resolves your issue, contact Amazon support for assistance.
Hope this helps!
