Got the same problem, lens won't go all the way back in error code MZ67-033. Have changed the batteries with new and get same error. I can't believe the lens are dirty or damaged as I haven't had this camera that long.

This is probably THE most common failure among digital cameras. There's a halfway chance of fixing it yourself, described here: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

How to fix an error 99 on a Sigma 24-70 mm lens

The error 99 on your Canon is the last thing the camera can think of, if it really does not know what is wrong.
If you don't have the message when using a different lens, and the error keeps coming back with that lens, you are right it is in the lens. But again the camera can;t find out what.
The only thing you can do is make sure the contacts are clean and shiny and nothing os blocking free movement of all the parts on the lens. If you can't get it working correct, please contact a Certified Sigma service centre.

When i on my Canon EOS 450D camera it says error 99 turn off and on the camera or re install the battery how can fix this problem

The error 99 code has different sources, to identify it do this:

Remove the Lens, and try shooting at various speed high (1/1000 or more) then at more normal ones 1/15, 1/50 etc.
If you see the error 99 then contact canon this is a problem wit the camera.
In this case contact Canon directly.

If you still don' have the error message, then put back the lens and try shooting at different apertures (for a lens the error 99 correspond with an aperture problem)
try every aperture. If the problem appears then, clean the lens contacts both on the camera and on the lens.

If the problem is still there, contact the lens brand, you certainly have a blocked or sticky aperture.

Hope this helps.

M547 camera lens will not open

My son has this camera and dropped in the sand this summer. He had the same problem.

I found this blog posting.
http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

Read it. And try all the techniques.

I took the camera to our photo printing store and the guy sprayed it with compressed air. It didn't do the trick but I think it helped. We tried all the techniques in the article. In the end I put some WD-40 in a dish and used a toothpick to drip the WD-40 into the space between the lens barrel and the camera case. I powered on the camera while my son pulled on the lens. He pushed back the flaps and pulled from them. Somehow, after several tries - and I was ready to give up - the lens opened. We still got a lens error message. We kept brushing away and blowing out sand and turning the camera on and off. Eventually it started working. However, the zoom is not working. But we are going to go back to the photo store and have him blow more air into the lens.

Good luck. Hope this isn't too late and helps you.

Canon D40 Error code 99 keeps coming up no matter what i do

Unfortunately, the ERR99 code is a catch-all code that means an UNKNOWN error has occurred. Because of this, it is going to be very difficult to pin down exactly what is causing the problem.

It could be a fault with either the camera (main circuit board, software, shutter mechanism etc.) or even the lens.

For starters, I would make sure that the lens electrical contacts are clean and the lens is mounted correctly and fully locked home. If you have a spare lens, try that also.

Next, I would reformat the memory card (do this in camera). If you have a spare memory card, try that also.

Check that the battery contacts are clean, and also the contacts of any external hardware such as vertical grips.

If none of these solve the problem, the only option left is to return the camera to Canon for a warranty repair, however if it is brand new, I would take it back to the store for an exchange.

Hope this helps,

Matt

Error 18

The "E18" error code indicates an error that involves the lens unit or lens cover. This error may appear where the lens is prevented from properly extending or retracting such as, for example, when pressure is applied to the lens or the area surrounding the lens while handling the camera. The error may also be displayed if the lens unit/camera has been subjected to an external shock, or if a foreign substance (i.e. liquid, sand, dirt) enters the camera. Solution Check the following when you operate the camera to avoid applying pressure to the lens and surrounding area: - Hold the camera so that your fingers do not touch the lens unit when you are shooting. - Make sure the camera is off before you put it back in the case. Exercise caution to ensure that the camera does not accidentally power on while the camera is stored inside the case.
