My FPD1730 is plugged in but monitor recieves no power at all, power button does not light and nothing is displayed on the screen. I opened it up and saw no signs of burnt out components. I replaced the ceramic fuse but that did not fix the problem. Is the monitor shot? I have had and used it regularly for 9 years now...

Change the power cord before giving up on it. If changing the power cord doesn't work then, yes its probably something wrong with the monitor and being over 9 years old is OLD. New monitors are dirt cheap right now.

SOURCE: Green Light, no Display - Gateway FPD1730

It could be your LCD backlight giving you problems. With the computer on and the monitor power LED green shine a flashlight in the lower left hand corner of your screen. Look for the ?Start? button, if your backlight is not working you?ll see a faint ?start? button if you look closely. Depending on the monitor this is usually and economically repairable problem. SOURCE: Monitor appears to be in permanent standby mode -

Look for bad caps with bulging top in the power supply. I would replace all 10 with PANASONIC FM or FC series from DIGIKEY. Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Have emachines monitor which is not coming on power button fast flicker

Which power button is flickering (your computer, or your monitor).
Here's some tricks I would try...
1. Verify the monitor's power cord is plugged firmly into the wall outlet and the back of the monitor.
2. Verify the monitor cable is firmly connected to the computer and the monitor.
3. Verify that you have turned the monitor power switch on.
4. If the power light on the monitor is not on, test the wall outlet (plug in a light or something you know works).
5. If the power light on the monitor is not on, try a different power cord.
6. If the power light is on and yellow or orange or flashing, but nothing displays, or the display is incorrect, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor probably needs replaced.
7. Also, you could try your display on a friend's computer. If it doesn't work, your monitor probably needs replaced. If it works properly on your friends computer, the problem may be with your computers video output port, motherboard video chip (or video card, if you have one), or drivers.
Good luck.

Make sure you set up your laptop to display to a second screen. Depending on your Operating system, go to your display properties and go to the settings tab. Then click on the second monitor and enable it.

I CANT GET MY MONITOR TO TURN ON

It could be the Monitor, the VGA adapter, or the PC itself. If you power on the monitor without anything connected to it, do you ever see anything on the display?

If not, it is probably the Monitor. If yes, it is likely the vga adapter and/or PC.

Green Light, no Display - Gateway FPD1730

I picked up a FPD1730 monitor for free which was just sitting out in my apartment hallway. I suspected something was wrong and sure e**ugh there was ** backlight, but I could see faint video when I shined a flashlight on it.

A quick Google search of the inverter model # led me to a German forum which suggested replacing the fuse labeled "F1" on the inverter board. I don't have a matching fuse on hand but I bridged the connection with a wire and sure e**ugh the backlight came back on. Short-circuiting like this is definitely **t 100% safe but if you can find a 4A fuse then it's a really cheap and quick fix.
