SOURCE: Green Light, no Display - Gateway FPD1730
It could be your LCD backlight giving you problems. With the computer on and the monitor power LED green shine a flashlight in the lower left hand corner of your screen. Look for the ?Start? button, if your backlight is not working you?ll see a faint ?start? button if you look closely. Depending on the monitor this is usually and economically repairable problem. Look for bad caps with bulging top in the power supply. I would replace all 10 with PANASONIC FM or FC series from DIGIKEY. Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
