No.The only use of that USB is specifically for firmware upgrade use. I'am not sure why you rated my response as not helpful if your manual says its only good for firmware.No.The only use of that USB is specifically for firmware upgrade use. try connecting tv to cable direct also try unplugging both converter and tv for wile like 5 mins plug both back in see if tv and converter sync, but if otherwise then The ysus board is the most common reason. you can try websites on ebay.com to buy parts for replacement...

Since that you already used different computer still its not detecting the camera It means the problem is either On the USB cable itself or on the camera USB slot. Because windows XP vista or Windows 7 has a generic driver for all the camera it should detect all the camera thats been inserted on the CPU.
try to used different USB cable and make sure the USB cable is MODEL U-8 thats the right cable for your camera
Before transferring digital images through the USB Connection, you must install the driver and software that came with your camcorder. The software may vary by model. Please view the attached instructions and system requirements for installing the software. Instructions for transferring images through DVC media are provided on the disk as well.
For newer models, you can use Windows Explorer to transfer still images. After installing the driver as instructed in the attachment, follow these instructions.
1. Connect one end of the USB Cable to the Camcorder.
2. Connect the other end of the USB Cable to the PC
3. Power on the Camcorder. (You will notice a green arrow appear in the lower right hand corner of your monitor indicating the device has been detected by your PC)
4. Right click the 'Start' button and choose 'Explore'
5. The Camcorder will appear as a 'Removable Disk' with a drive letter.
6. Click on the Removable Disk and two folders will appear. DCIM and SSMOV. DCIM will contain still images. (SSMOV will contain mpeg's)
7. Double Click the DCIM folder
8. Double Click the folder named 100SSDVC
9. All pictures on the memory stick will appear.
10. You can highlight any (or all) pictures you would like to transfer and move or copy to them to the folder of your choice. (You can select a folder in the left window pane of Windows Explorer and drag and drop files as well)
11. When you are through, you must 'Safely Disconnect' the camcorder by right clicking the green arrow in the lower right hand corner of your screen. (Follow the on screen instructions. Failure to do so may result in flash memory loss)
If i update the software, will i be able to play media files on it?
