What you didn't say was whether it plays the high frequencies. If not, you may be looking at bad speakers. It's not the amp that's bad as you say that voice and whatever comes through. The amps either work or they don't. They don't care about the frequencies. All they care about is the input, and whether the amp works, or is distorted. If you play your systems too loud, you will eventually overdrive the tweeter and midranges, and burn them out.

You can always try the factory reset in your owner's manual. That may correct this. I would say that you might have a bad center channel, but you say that it plays in other languages just fine. Try the reset...

Hi,
please double check your wiring again as if you cross the polaritys (+ and -) you put the audio signal out of phase, thus casing cancellaion of things such as voices.

UBX Home Theater System

It sounds like a problem with your centre channel or speaker. The sound of Voices and on-screen, actions in the middle of the screen are played through the centre speaker. General sounds such as music in the background, off-screen events, etc. will be played through other speakers on a home theatre system. Check your connectors coming from your DVD player to your sound system. Are you using a single-cabled digital connector or one for every channel? Check your sound settings as well, i.e., Surround, AC3, Music, etc.

MY SAMSUNG MODEL HT-Z410. WILL PLAY DVD'S AND I CAN HEAR EVERYTHING IN THE BACKGROUND BUT I CANT HEAR PEOPLE TALKING

Try selecting different options for the DSP audio settings. Sometimes a simple 2 channel stereo with subwoofer gives the best dialogue intelligibility. I would avoid fancy reverb presets like auditoriums and churches etc. You probably want to find a nice balance between the dialog, the music and sound FX, and the bass (subwoofer) BEFORE YOU START MESSING WITH THE surround speaker FX. Also, you may find that you have to readjust all the settings for different videos. I finally just opted for the simplest, no-fuss approach. Usually the stereo with sub. For really good concert DVDs, you will probably want to use all the speaker configurations that 5.1, 6.1, and 7.1 support.

Surrond noises play but no voices , we can hear the music on the dvd and background noises but not the voices

The voices generally come out of the center channel speaker, in a 5.1 or higher dolby set-up. Hope this helps.

Samsung HT-X50 DVD Audio Problem

I had this same problem and checked all of my cables and wires. Come to find out one of the wires that connected to the central audio speaker (the one that the audio track comes from) was unplugged. I plugged it in and that fixed it! My audio track is back! So make sure that all of the speaker cables are properly connected! That might be the source of your troubles!

I have a Pioneer DV 585A DVD player that happily plays DVDs and the background sounds seems to be fine, but on some of the DVDs you can hear the voices of the characters speaking and then on another you...

Hi edwardm1,

If you are only hearing part of the audio from your DVD player, I would suggest you check your audio settings before seeking repairs.

Audio can be encoded to a DVD in several ways. If the audio on the disc is different than the settings on your DVD player, you may not hear all of the audio layers. For example, if your DVD is encoded in 5.1 Surround Sound, but your DVD player is set only to play basic Stereo, you may only hear portions of the audio.

Try accessing the menu on your DVD player, and look for the audio settings. If there is a higher setting available than is currently selected, try a higher audio setting. A higher setting should also be compatible with lower types of audio encoding.

If this does not improve your audio, or if you need help navigating your product menus, I would recommend giving Pioneer's toll-free support line a call at (800) 421-1404.

Thank you,

No voice sound through speaker with DVD system, only music?

first check the settings on the audio menu of the dvd player. make sur it is set to 5.1 (if available) otherwise set it to stereo and your system should decode it.
assuming the second step is okay : as other dvd you play seem to work) it still may be that your unit is decoding stereo inputs just fine and 5.1 is not working properly....
so if adjusting audio settings in dvd play back menu dont work,
check that the cables to the satellite speakers are connected correctly and all plugged in soundly ( voice is high frequency,- coming from satellites - the garbled noises you hear are the base ( low freq) elements of voice which are coming from the bass box ( that the X.1 part of 5.1) and so that is obviously working. ,

Voices cannot be heard clearly when playing dvd

erm,, when you say you cant hear voices clearly. do you mean that they seem to be a little lower in "obviousness" than they should be or are they way down ther as the background level is so much higher.

1. a little lower means you need to bring the trebble up and the bass down and bring up the centre and reduce the surround , this is basically tuning the sytem to your room.
you also need to check the dvd setting for audio out to ensure that the settings for the audio on the dvd are set to 5.1 ( if the little black spare connector is connected to your dvd player) or else set to stereo for "normal " palyback.

2. if the voice is way down compared to background sound track.
are you using an amp for the bass channel, this may need to be turned down. or the thing that looks like a spare connector on the end of the cable going to your cd5 unit is not correctly installed. can you tell me what the set up is.
