We have an LG WM1812CW front loader and have been fighting mildewing and smell with it. LG website gave us a canned answer about leaving the door open, wiping out the rubber gasket on the door, running bleach thru the machine etc. We continue to do that but it still stinks! Seems like a faulty design, old top loader didn't have these issues. Anyone else having these problems? LG WM2032HW washer smells in between uses. I drain it every time I finish with laundry and leave the drain open until the next use. I leave the door open. Now using a tablet to run in the washer to get rid of the odor. This has to be a health hazard to have stagnant water sitting in the washer all the time. On 6/21/06 LG told me they were aware of the problem and would contact me when there was a fix. No response.
This is a problem with LG design. There are 2 problem areas that I have seen. One is that bottom on the rubber gasket and the other is in the filter drain pipe.
Beside throwing out the machine I believe you need to remove the rubber gasket and clean the mold from it, and also clean the filter drain pipe at the bottom.
I am not expert so I will let you know how this goes as I am trying it tonight. I just need to figure out to how to remove the rubber gasket .. as I see there is actually mold in there.
Hi.
I'm wondering if there is a blockage in the filter or outlet pipe which is causing too much water to be left in the machine after the end of the cycle?
You could try a very hot was cycle with no clothes but some detergent or "washing soda" added to try to kill off the bugs.
You could also try removing the soap tray and giving that a good clean - there is sometimes a build up of soapy gunge in there.
Hope this helps. If this "fixes ya", I'd appreciate a rating for my reply, If not, please add a comment with any extra info you have and I will try to think of something else.
Thanks, D

Have had this machine for about a year and constantly have problem with the "cleaned Washing" having a horrible smell. LG say it is caused by using too low a temperature wash, and gunge build up of gunge in the bottom of the machine. I use this machine every day, having family still at home. I never had this problem with the other 3 washing machines I have used over the last 32 years. Is there anything I can do? Also the towels never come out feeling soft. I have tried every combination of eashing powder and fabric softeners. Help.
GE front loading machine stinks in between washes. Any idea how to address?
