Remove the bar and chain after releasing the chain brake. Clean the engine case where the bar fits next to and start the engine--oil should ooze out of the port in the case. If it squirts out, there should be an adjustment screw head that is located in the rear of the case near the returning chain area. Turn the screw CW to reduce oil delivery. Clean the small oil passages in the drive end of the bar that run from the large holes out to the chain groove on each edge. When everything is re-assembled, start the engine and run it at speed with the bar tip near some cardboard for a moment or two. It should throw off a thin line of oil. Adjust the volume screw until you achieve that result. Hope this helps!

Oil not coming out on the bar

Check chain oil reservoir, assuming it is full and pathways are clear, your oil pump might be toast , or not set up properly. Usually, there is an adjusting screw. Don't run it dry.

I have an older McCulloch chain saw- Pro Mac 610. When using the saw the chain will get very tight. If I adjust the chain to the proper tension, make a couple of cuts the chain loosens and must be...

The main reason for a chain to tighten is because it is not getting enough oil to the bar, or too thin an oil is being used, you should see a good spray of oil off the end of the bar when held against a tree stump, if not try adjusting the flow if it has an adjuster.

Excessive bar oil coming from clutch area.

Is bar oil getting on the chain? Depending on the model, their maybe an adjustment on the oil pump to control the flow, check the owners manual. Also make sure you are using bar and chain oil as regular motor oil is much lighter and tends to get "flung" off more.

No oil getting to my chain

Release the chain brake, then remove the bar and chain. Clean the area where the bar fits to on the engine. Start the engine to see if the oil oozes out of the small port. If nothing, then the oil pump, oil line, or tank filter will require service. If oil does come out, then clean the small oil passages in the drive end of the bar that run from the large holes out to the chain groove on each edge. Re-assemble the bar and chain--adjust the chain so that it just comes up to the lower bar edge, but you can still turn it by hand. Make sure the chain teeth cut toward you on the lower run of chain. Run the bar tip at speed near some cardboard--it should throw off a thin line of oil after several moments. Hope this helps!

Good Morning : I have a Husqvarna 142 e chain saw about 2 years old and I have an excessive amount of bar oil dripping out . Is there some kind of flow adjustment for this problem ? Thanks , Mark :

First, deactivate the chain brake, back-off the chain adjuster, then remove the bar and chain. Run the engine at speed for a moment or two--the oil should ooze out of the engine side port. If the oil quantity seems about right, then clean the drive end of the bar oil-passages including the two small passages that go out to the chain groove on each side. Clean the chain groove and check the sprocket on the far end (if equipped). Reassemble the bar and chain, then start and run the engine at speed for several moments with the bar tip near a piece of cardboard--it should throw off a thin line of oil onto the cardboard. Check the owner's manual for location of any oil-volume adjustment if needed.

Where is the oil discharge hole on silver eagle 250-14?

If you take the bolts off the studs that the bar sits over, the ones you loosen to tighten the chain, you can then take off the housing over the chain sprocket. Loosen the chain adjusting screw, Pull the bar and chain off of the saw. The oil discharge hole is behind a plate on the back side of the bar about where the studs for the bar are. There is a small hole in the bar that the oil is injected into. This needs to be kept clean for the chain oiler to work properly.

No oil getting to bar and chain on 20in. homelite chain saw

Take the cover off the sprocket for the chain and loosen the adjusting screw so you can remove the bar. Remove the chain from around the bar. In the read of the bar there is usually one or two small holes less than 1/4th inch. This is where the oil injector shoots oil into the bar for oiling the chain. The hole can become plugged with sawdust thus stopping the flow of oil. Clean out this hole as well as the injector nozzle for the oil underneath the bar. Not a bad idea to run something slim all the way around the bar in the grove that the chain runs in. This will remove all the excess sawdust that can keep the oiler from working.

Chain came off

remove side cover of chain, loosen bar nut, there is a screw on the front of the saw under the sawdust and oil. Turning it one way tightens the bar. The other way loosens it. Loosen it til you get the chain back on, then tighten it til there is about 1/2" slack in the bottom of the chain between it and the bar. By the By, semi tighten the nut before any major adjustments, then adjust the chain to above and tighten bar nut. You should be set to go. BE CAREFUL! Dont forget personal safety!!!

Husqvarna 359 leaking chain oil

Remove the sprocket cover, bar, and chain. Find area where oil is discharged from case--is any part of the rubber seal damaged? Next, use compressed air to clean sawdust and dirt from oiler ports in rear of bar as well as the chain slot. Are you using motor oil instead of bar oil? Make sure there is nothing to prevent bar from making close contact with oiler port in case. Reassemble all parts and adjust chain tension.
