My Boss RC-50 has stopped working. I used the power chord for my RC 50 in my Boss OC 3 pedal and then tried using the chord in my RC 50 again and it won't work. It won't even work with other power cables. Do you know what's wrong?

CHeck the voltage out of the adapter. It should be around 9 to 11 volts. If it is not, it is possible that the OC3 has reversed polarity AND a protector that put a short on an incorrect supply. If so, it could have damaged the RC50 adapter. If the RC50 adapter is putting out correct voltage, then I suspect the inout connector on the RC50 may be damaged or not quite seated. Visually inspect the connector first.

RC looper and DR880 syncing.

RC-50 & DR-880 Setup
Rather than using the RC-50 to change patches on the DR-880, I have connected an FS-6 footswitch to both the RC-50 & DR-880. This gives me control of both units, I can select up & down through the patches easily.
Use a dual TRS connector and 2 stereo "y" cables connected to ports 1,2 & 3.4 on both units.
Once connected, you will need to assign the control function for each control port. I assigned Patch Decrease to CLT 1,2 & Patch Increase to CLT 3,4 on both units.
I then connected a MIDI cable from the RC--u control of start/stop & tempo via the RC-50 footswitches.

Can i add more memory to the rc50 loop pedal

You can make a backup on your pc and load back Default settings or restore to default settings. Normally you should have I quote ' with up to 49 minutes of mono recording time (or 24 minutes in stereo), the RC-50 can function as a song recorder as well as a looper'

I have the RC300 which has 3 hrs recording time. But when i reach the limit. I make a backup and load back in a initial default setup which I have downloaded somewhere. But you can also restore to default from the unit itself. Hope this helps

The Auto on my Boss RC2 sometimes doesn't seem to pick up a signal and engage. It is plugged into a multi- socket adapter and I do not have the amp turned up too loud as the room is tiny. I thought it was...

Sometimes, with BOSS pedals, the battery must be disconnected before using another power source. I ran into the same problem with my DS-1 distortion. If it's not that, then check the power rating of the power adapter. It should read, for the output, exactly 9V DC. If it doesn't, then you have to get a power adapter that has that same rating. Boss pedals will not use anything other than 9V DC (I know, I've tried).

Hope that helps!

I have the Boss RC-50 Loopstation. It has been great. Perfect operation for about 8 months. Today, when I started to use it, I noticed that I couldn't select "Phrase 1" by tapping the pedal....

Likely the switch contacts for that pedal have failed. You will probably have to get it repaired. Stomping on the pedals is a good way to damage them, but the switches are often marginally designed anyway...

If you can access the switch you could try getting some CRC226 available at Home Depot in the electrical department into the switch, but often the internal parts of switches fail.

I damaged my boss BE 50 by using the wrong polarity. now it only works on batteries. what can I do.

You are probably fortunate that more damage was not done.

Open the unit and you will likely find a protective diode at the input and either a fuse or that a circuit trace has been blown. Replace whatever is not conducting the power from the power jack to the rest of the circuitry. The diode is probably OK as usually the battery power is across it when the battery is used.

Beggining of loop missing on FIRST playback only, on Boss RC-50.

Ok, solved this problem by visiting roland U.S. site as the help offered in this country is useless. The instructions given by email would not have worked even after the update was installed. Luckily, there are instructions that come with the download. If you have same problem as me go to http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.php?ProductId=772&tab=downloads&skip=true

and update the opperating system on the RC-50 to RC-50 System Update Version 1.01.

Then hold loop sync and phrase 2 button (think it was phrase 2) to change it to sound priority mode. Then it will play back correctly what you recorded on the first loop, rather than missing the first beat.

Am v.happy I have found this, as after much searching I can't find any other loopers out there that offer 3 seperate loop tracks and the ability to switch between them effectively. Plus, it's a very convenient size, better than a load of rackmounted stuff to haul around.

However.....

Another problem..

When hitting the reverse switch ( I assigned both external footswitch and the onboard Tempo pedal to reverse) the change is not instanteaneous. There is a second or so delay before it plays in reverse. Not a problem for most, I suppose, but I have a piece that switches rythmicaly between playing forward and reverse which means hitting a pedal in time and reverse/forwards changing immediately. I think they could do with another software update to solve this. Now I have to keep room in my enormous pedal board for the old rc-20, as that does the reverse as it should - when you hit the flippin switch!
