Sony VAIO® - Some troubleshooting steps to help you if your VAIO will not power on. SonyListens ..... I have a VAIO laptop & the AC adapter isn't charging the battery. Help? Oh yeah ... It's as if it isn't even plugged in. I've tried ...
Remove the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord from your Sony Vaio laptop, press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to discharge any residual current inside the laptop.
This clears your RAM and is like a hardware reset.
Replace the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord
and turn your laptop on.
If that does't work try removing ram and reinstall. Sometime this works with these laptops.
Im very sorry to hear that, please follow these simple steps for you to be able to isolate the exact problem.
1. Removed the battery.
2. Connect the laptop directly to the power outlet without using the battery just for the meantime.
3. Turn on the laptop. If the laptop is able to power on, that means that the AC adapter is working fine as well as the DC port. If the laptop is not able to turn on, it maybe the AC adapter itself or the DC port.
4. Try to use another AC adapter if possible, make sure that that AC adapter is working fine. If the laptop is still not turning on, the problem is with the DC port itself. In that case, you will need to replaced the Motherboard itself.

Clean the metal contacts on the Battery and in the compartment. Then, reset the BIOS to its default settings. Next, plug in the AC Adaptor to charge the Battery.
If the issue persists then the problem may be related to the power circuitry.
You should try another ac adapter. If that does'nt work the power jack where it plugs in may be bad or the power board under the power button is bad.You should try another ac adapter first though.
Try to remove the battery, remove AC adapter, and press and hold power button for 45 sec. reinsert battery, and Plug and try again, if that doesn't solve it, you may need to try to change memory first, (cheapest) or the motherboard or CPU.
Please give good rating if this helps your issue, Thanks
