The moisture may not be getting out of the dryer quickly enough.
LONG dry time is an indication of a clogged or restricted exhaust. Inspect the hose in the back to make sure it is not crushed or kinked. Clogged or restricted exhaust is the primary cause of failure in all residential dryers. Blowing the the system with a shop vac is only a temporary solution. The system needs to be cleaned (2 to 3 times per year) with a rotary brush to scrape lint collecting from the sides of the pipe. Also consider replacing flexible plastic or foil pipe with rigid metal type. Dryer will vent 30% to 40% better. If condition persists for too long, a high limit fuse mounted on the heater will open causing the heater to no longer operate.
Remember..the purpose of the dryer vent is to get rid of moisture. If the moisture can't be removed quickly....the clothes will take a long time to dry, no matter how much heat there is....
Cleaning kits are available at most home improvement centers. or at this website: www.linteater.com

My Kenmore 22642 washer is leaving lint all over the clothes. If i run them through the dryer, that will remove the lint... but some of my clothes don't go through the dryer. I can't seem to determine if...

Wash clothes separately whites and light colors together. Darks with liquid detergent. No lint filter on the machine. I have found some powder detergents do not dissolve completely.

Odor

Hi,
If you don't clean out the lint trap frequently, your dryer may have small lint fires inside the cabinet. The smell from these fires can leave a strong odor in the clothes drum. Also, if there are any solvents, paints, lacquers, etc. in use in the house, your dryer may alter and/or amplify the fumes to an odor unlike the natural fumes given by the solvent, paint, etc.
Here's what to do:
  1. First, clean all of the lint from the inside cabinet and ductwork of your dryer.
  2. Move all containers of flammable liquids at least 50 feet away from the dryer.
  3. Then, try to clear the odor, by running a couple of loads of old rags or towels.

When drying clothes in my gas dryer, you can smell gas upon opening the door. If the dryer is not running, you do not smell a gas odor. Sometimes our clothes also have a gas smell. This just started a week...

Hi, from what you describe, it sounds like you may have incomplete combustion, which would leave a residual odor while burning. Check your vent, on the outside where the flap opens and the exhaust leaves the building. Anything blocking that vent may cause an air flow problem. If you have good air flow when the dryer is running, the problem is going to be at the gas valve/burner and may need a professional. In my town, the gas company will come out and check problems like this for no charge, they don't replace parts but are good at troubleshooting. Best of luck.

Clothes come our smelling bad

Run a load empty on the hottest setting with a cup of bleach.

Then, after finished using the machine each day, leave the door open for a few hours to allow the rubber seal to dry.

Bad smell inside dryer

that's because it's brand new. See if it goes away in a month. After a load has dried leave the door open for a bit. What does it smell like?

Gas ignites but goes out after 15 or 20 seconds

Hello gdurawa
Welcome to Fixya
My name is Huum,

You said, upon starting my Kenmore gas dryer the igniter glows and the gas ignites, but the gas goes out after 15 or 20 seconds - clothes don't dry.

This means either the igniter is bad and not getting hot enough to make the gas continue to release completely and stay open, so it shut off.
or you have a bad gas module.
Or a bad gas valve without enough pressure.
Needs to be diagnosed hands on at your location .
