Referigerator is not getting very cold and the freezer is frosting

If freezer is working & refri.not check damper vent could be frozen or closed

Sounds like the freon is low. Needs a repair man with a tester to check the pressure. when he is there check for small leaks in the lines as well. It's tryng to work but no pressure to work wityh.

It may be set too high {cooling #} or the back where the refrigeration fins are need to be cleaned. On some models there is a metal plate hiding the fins you have to remove it then vacuum out the back to remove dust and debris. try adjusting both the freezer and refrigarator settings

MAKE SURE THE FANS ARE RUNNING FREEZER AND COMPRESSOR, THEN CHECK THE BACK WALL OF THE FREEZER IF ITS FROSTED UP YOU HAVE A DEFROST ISSUE. IF THE COMPRESSOR AND FANS ARE WORKING AND NO FROST IN THE FREEZER THATS NOT A GOOD THING..

The cold from the freezer is piped up to the refrigerator and if that tube gets clogged with frost or ice it will not be able to blow to the cold air into the refrigerator area. I took everything out, unpluged the unit for about 6 hours, till all the frost from the freezer was gone, wiped up all moisture and turn it back on. It worked!

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

if youd like you can remove the affected crisper, locate the "adjustment slidelever" and remove it, behind there youll find a hole(which is what youve been restricting to lessen the cold air flow.) try wadding up a ball of perma-gum, window sealer, some sorta plug forthe hole, its not nessecary for function of refrig, only to make the crispers colder, but usually too cold. blocking of fthe hole willl make the crispers only as cold as rest of refrig

the freezer does all the cooling for both sides a few shelves down in the fridge on the left hand side there is an air intake make sure nothing is blocking it also listen for the freezer fan to run if its not look at the coils in the bottom of the freezer to see if they are heavly frosted in the fridge side at the top left side should be some vents hold your hand there to see if air is blowing through if not reply to me well go from there

Possible problems are a bad evaporator fan motor or a defrost problem. If the back panel in the freezer is frosted up then it is a defrost problem. If no frost listen for the fan in the freezer. If you don't hear it then it may be the problem. Not circulating the cold air.
