My whirlpool self cleaning electric built in over lock lever stuck in cleaning position during a cleaning cycle. How can I open my oven door without breaking it?
I have self cleaned my oven also, and the message pad reads an error; my door will not go off of lock mode. This oven is no more than 1 year and feel that this should not be a problem. I have tried to press the cancel button, the heating element starts up on the top side of the inside of the oven; after a couple of minutes the pad reads cleaning over, but the door will not unlock. I sure would like to bake in this oven, since we just bought the house that as stated earlier is not even a year old.I have self cleaned my oven also, and the message pad reads an error; my door will not go off of lock mode. While roasting at 400 degrees, my built in Whirlpool went into cleaning mode, and would not turn off! We shut off the breaker and waited a couple of hours for it to cool. We got the door opened by setting the clock and pushing the" timer off "and "oven off" buttons. BUT the top burners (the broiler mode) will not turn off....so we had to shut off the breaker again....and after I throw both the roast and the casserole = pans away, I'll call a repair guy. FYI the oven is less than 5 yrs old. While roasting at 400 degrees, my built in Whirlpool went into cleaning mode, and would not turn off! After the self-cleaning cycle on our double oven the top door would not unlock and the face information on the control panel went off. I flipped the house breaker to the oven but nothing happened. Could there be a built-in fuse in the oven system that has blown and if so, where is it and how do you get to it?After the self-cleaning cycle on our double oven the top door would not unlock and the face information on the control panel went off. Hello dktshopping,
I know you probable don't want to hear this but in you circumstance, I think you would be better off to contact a repair professional. Those oven door locks are meant to keep the door from opening during the oven's self-cleaning cycle. They are both mechanically and temperature controlled so that the door can not be opened when the oven is 950 degrees. It sounds to me as though something is not releasing to allowing the locking mechanisim to disengage from the door even though the lever is in the unlock position. The unit will probably have to be taken apaprt to remedy the problem. Good luck.
thermal fuse to board blows, relays turn fans off, the thermal cut out on rear of oven kills element. change both fuses, install new style oversized blower.
I lost the instruction manual for my Whirlpool 30" Electric Built-In Double Oven and want to clean it. Can I get instructions for how to set the cycle for self-cleaning, etc.?
tde, sounds like your thermal fuse (TC0) opened on the back side of the oven. If this opens, it will shut the oven down. This happens alot during self cleaning on built ins. Sometimes I have to re-route the tco to a different area to prevent this from happening. Your part number is 4451442. You will have to pull the oven out far enough to remove the back paneling and replace the fuse....Catriver..post back.
Tuck, sounds like your Thermal cut out opened on the back of the oven. You will have to get at this in the back of the oven. Part number 4451442. Look it up on the net so you know what your going after. This is a common deal on built ins. Going to need some help in pulling the oven out so far, removing the back panel and changing the TCO...Catriver Post back.
