Got this error so I took the door latch in my hand and moved it all the way to the left a few times (it's a bit stiff) then closed the door and started the cleanning button again and whalla it worked like a charm.

Like everyone said it's because of the door latch.

I live in apartment with a Whirlpool dishwasher and oven. Today was my first day to do automatic clean. After two minutes the "F5SEI" would pop up, then the door would unlock. I repeated this a couple of times. My mind wondered about a water source; perhaps the dishwater. Fortunately, I had a load of dishes ready to go. So I started the dishwasher, then the automatic clean on the oven. Behold! They work together like homies :)

SOURCE: my oven code is F5E1

F5E1 is door latch assembly. One way that may work to unlock is to turn circuit breaker to stove off for few seconds then turn back on and door lock should activate and unlock. If not you are going to have to replace the door lock assembly.

SOURCE: my whirlpool oven door is locked. After cleaning

HI. This will indicate that the door lock mechanism is damaged. follow the procedure below to address further.

If the door is latched:

A. Disconnect power from unit.
B. Check wires and connectors from control to door switch, then from door switch to control. If there is no damage to the wires and all connectors are okay, proceed to step C.
C. Replace door switch.
D. Re-apply power.
E. Press and hold any key down for 1 minute to clear F5 failure code from memory. F2 will appear. Press CANCEL and observe for 1 minute to ensure operation is correct.

NOTE_ This will, normally, lead to the replacement of the door latch assembly.

SOURCE: I am trying to start my self clean and a minute

Make sure that the door latch is completly locked and then try again. If it is locked and you are getting this code the door latch assembly is bad. The oven sensor would be fine since you get no codes during normal baking. Problem is in door lock system

SOURCE: I HAVE A WHIRLPOOL MODEL NUMBER RF368LXKQ RANGE

Hello,

The F5E1 error codes means that the door light switch OR a switch on the self clean latch has failed. If the oven light comes on and goes off when the door is opened and closed it most likely going to be a switch on the latch thats the problem.

The part numbers are;

DOOR LATCH W10107830

LIGHT SWITCH 3195993

Hit button for auto clean a Whirlpool self cleaning oven super capacity 465. After I hit the button 3:30 comes on screen then I hit start and it starts beeping with a message of F5E1. Help?

that's a problem with the latch assy. if the oven works don't worry about it,your better off not using the self clean, the oven gets up to 1000 degrees and can damage the electronics in the oven, seen it before and tell people not to use it,use easy off works just as good and you won't damage anything in the oven, people do this right before the holidays and then you go out and the clock assy. is bad or the latch gets damaged and the parts have to be ordered and they can't use the oven for the holidays, some of the clock assy. are big bucks,it's not just the clock it has a computer board that the clock is built into and they can cost from 160 to 500 dollars or more or if the oven is old you can't get the parts anymore,if your oven is working forget the self clean.

When I set my oven to self clean it states FSEI. What does this mean?

Hi

F5E1 means the self clean latch will not lock.

Try pressing down any key for 1 minute, F2 may appear, then press CANCEL and see if that clears the fault, if not you may have a faulty door switch.

Whirlpool oven gas range is beeping and is displaying F5E1.

This is a problem with the door latch switch. You will need to remove, check for continuity with latch open no continuity closed should have continuity. If the switch has continuity with latch open replace. I have replaced quite a few of these over the years, they usually seem to go during a cleaning or right after the oven was cleaned. Enter your model # at www.appliancehelponline.com for an illustration. The switch is inexpensive and easy to replace.
