What I do with my stihl saws is after starting I let it warm up for a few seconds and then run it at full throttle for about thirty seconds. If your saw does not want to keep running I would check to make sure air filter is clean. Next you can adjust carb.setting for idle and hi speed, check your manual for instructions. Also I would remove and clean spark plug, check gap and reset or replace as needed. Make sure your gas oil mix is proper and gas has not been setting for a long time,no more than a couple of months without some type of fuel stabilizer. I use either STA-BIL or sea foam at a rate of 2 to4 ounces per gallon of gas. About the only other thing I might suggest is to check the feul filter. They usually are located on fuel pick up line inside gas tank and can be a pain to get to. Good luck and I hope this helps Thanks

No power when I push the gas

check for plugged exhaust system, dirty air filter, vacuum leaks, those have a mile of vacuum hoses. Also, check for bad fuel pump.

1996 mercedes c280 dies when put in drive

Engine stalls or RPM fluctuates at idle up and down or dies near idle.

This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve but always run a OBD2 fault code as well as the cleaning procedure. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control

98 explorer starts then dies

Been in accident and repaired? Check all sensors are plugged in and all earth wires have been reconnected. Does it splutter and die or just cut straight out? If just cut straight out it will be a sensor/computer fault.

07 ttr 125 cranks but will not start right up when it does it will not take gas it dies and you have to turn key off and back on before it will start back it will idle for a few seconds and die again over...

I have two ttr 125's and my son has another, all 05's but i ran into this with a friends 02 as well. All ttr 125's are cold blooded bikes to say the least. the cold starting procedure that works is to first lean the bike over to the left till it dribbles a little gas on the floor. hit the electric start for a few seconds only, wait 20 to 30 seconds and do it again. holding the starter button down and cranking will do nothing but flood the bike out. short busts only, dont give it any gas ever, this will also do nothing. first it will start for a brief moment then die, hit the button for about 3 to 4 revelutions and wait, the next time it will start again, most likely only for a few seconds again, repeat this and each time it will run a little longer till it keeps running on it own. the best way to get your ttr to start easier is to cut the top of the airbox off, this will give the bike more power (youll see why when you look at the tiny opening) and allow you to spray starting fluid under the back of the seat right into the airbox. it makes starting a cold bike 5 times faster. usually only 2 repeats of the starting procedure.

HAS NO POWER AND DIES OUT WHEN GIVING MORE THROTTLE OR TRYING TO CUT

I have the same problem. Can't find my manual to look up trouble-shooting guide. Did following, but same symtom after:
1.) Clean air and fuel filter
2.) Replace gas lines with "tygon" tubing; check for kinks in gas lines.

Observations:
1.) Runs good for about 20 seconds then dies slow death. Starts and idles good.
2.) Air bubbles in primer squeeze bulb.
3.) Gas tank is pressurized.

My next trial and error mission:
1.) Fresh gas and oil mix.
2.) Remove gas and oil filters for bench test
3.) Replace primer tube (it is smaller than gas tube) so I cut ends and re-used old.

If you have pin-pointed the problem let me know. It sure seems like gas starvation.

Engine cuts out, console lights up

It sounds like your fuel filter is clogged. Try changing it.
