Tv struck by lightning and will not turn on. Can it be repaired or is it a lost cause?

Bypassing a board or a part on the board would be like removing the spark plugs from a car and expecting it to run. On a serious note, if the TV has lightning damage recycle it and buy a new TV, you may be able to turn in a claim to your insurance company, once a set has storm damage even replacing a board may not fix it long term, in our service center we usually won't repair a TV the customer advises of lightning damage,it's a good way to get call backs

If it struck by lightning its cooked . We got hit by lightning blew the phone off the wall cooked the phone boxes and blew the tv .

When tvs are struck by lightning most of them are beyond repairs and if successful they always give problems in the future.

tried to reset the tv first, if struck by lightning the tuner will be damaged or the main board but since the tv is still working so i think not the lightning was the main cause.

Best to take it to a repair centre as lightning damage can cause either minor fault such as an internal fuse blown or major problems that would make it uneconomical to repair. Ask for an estimate for the cost to repair.

As u have just said that it was struck by lightning the only way to get the TV back working is to replace burnt items on the moterboard .becouse lightning must have demaged some components on the power supply, if possible i would preffer a new power supply board

Hi! your tv power supply is busted, you need to contact a qualified technician for repair.

You wont be able to fix the TV your self as the power circuit board may have blown - consult a qualified repair man. Buying a surge protector for your expensive electronic goods is highly recommended.

Find a repair place near you and have them check it out.

Hate to see a $1,000 TV go down the toilet.
If your lucky, you can try checking the fuses inside the TV.
The lightning may have taking out only your power supply board, shopjimmy.com may have replacements for about $100. But, I can't tell you for sure that will fix the problem.
You may have to take to a repair shop to find out for sure.
