Error Code E1

Does anyone know what error code E1 means on a kenmore elite HE3 or HE4 dryer? Same problem here. Sears said to replace thermistor but now it gives me an E2 error code and stops running....can't win with this dryer.

E1 error

The fault code E1 means the electronic control detected the thermistor is open. It's either the wire harness connecting the thermistor and electronic control is broken or the connection is loose or the thermistor is indeed open. Measure the resistance of the thermistor then refer to the temperature and resistance table for the normal thermistor resistance values. Click on the link below for the detailed troubleshooting procedure.

My kenmore dryer is blinking e1 can you tell me what the prolbem is.

I have a Kenmore Electric HE3 dryer that displays the E1 error code. My husband is good at fixing just about anything so he wants to fix this himself. Is this the Thermistor? Where is it located?

On a kenmore dryer Elite modle #11071062000 i am getting an error code "E2" can you tell me what this means? Can you tell me how to fix it? The dry runs but will not ignite.

The E1 displayed indicates the thermistor is open and needs to be replaced.

The connections can be loose but the most likely cause of an E1 error is a bad thermistor.

The dryer will not operate if the exhaust temperature drops below 18 degrees F. or exceeds 250 degrees F.

If you're comfortable and confident in your do-it-yourself skills and have access to a volt/ohm meter you can check and replace this part yourself.

The thermistor is available from the following: www.searspartsdirect.com

Enter your model # in the appropriate box to get a full parts break-down and diagrams.

To access the thermistor see the image below.

Remember to unplug the dryer from power first.

The thermistor will have a black and red/white wire on it.

You can check continuity across it with the meter and if the circuit is open then the thermistor needs to be replaced.

When the thermistor circuit is open (>50K ohms), the error code E1 flashes in the display.

When the thermistor circuit is shorted (

Normal thermistor resistance values:
60 degrees F. - 15.3K ohms.
70 degrees F. - 11.9K ohms.
80 degrees F. - 9.2K ohms.

The thermistor -may- check ok when cool and freak out when warm!

Code E1 comes up and dryer quits operation

If the first 3 numbers of the model number are 106, 110, 198, 562, 665; then the E1 code means thermistor failure.

You can replace this component yourself.

I constantly got E1 Error code on my Kenmore Elite H3 GAS dryer

E1 error code indicates an open thermistor or open thermistor circuit. A thermistor is a component that relays the temperature in the dryer to the control board. If the thermistor has failed, Error code E1 will be displayed.
You need to call a repair person to fix it.
