Hi My wife has a Golden Companion GC 221, has new

Hi My wife has a Golden Companion GC 221, has new batteries and are fully charged. The power meter shows fully charged in the green zone. When you push the lever to power the scooter the charge meter drop's down to the yellow and even the red charge zone and has very little power and sometimes won't move at all. Can someone give me a clue on what may be the problem and what to check and how to check it.

I would check all connections first. I would also see about the wiring harness, is it drawing power from somewhere when there is weight on it.
Is it giving any flash codes?
Or the dash may need to be replaced.
Please call into Golden's technical service department at 1-800-624-6374 Ext 501

    Hi
I have checked the connections, even unhooked then and re hooked them, did not help.
I'll check the wiring harness but I don't believe that is the problem.
No flash codes, solid green light all the time.
Is there a way to check the dash?
I can call, but it would be when I'm at work and the scooter would not be with me. It is not under warranty any longer.

Has the scooter been stored for a while? It sounds like there are damaged cells in the batteries. This can cause the charger to register a full charge when actually the batteries are nearly empty. When you operate the scooter, you cannot get full power because the batteries just don't have it to give. Try replacing the batteries to see if that solves that problem.

    Hi
Batteries are new and fully charged and has not been stored

At this point the only thing I can think of is that there may be a motor problem; there is not enough power to move the scooter. Contact the manufacturer to see if your insurance will cover the repair (unless you paid for the scooter yourself, at that case repairs are COD).

I have a Golden GC321 When the battery charger is on there is a green light and next to it is a red light Does the red light ever go off when charging.

the gc 321 has a diagonistic sender built in, go to golden companion.com
and down load the owners manuel for it, its free and very helpful, when you 1st turn on the key , you count the times the red lite blinks an it will diagnose your problem, then you look it up in the manuel!
also go to monster.com and type in make and model, a set of keys is about $10

This sounds like the battery's have gone bad. You will need to check with a local dealer to find replacement battery's. If you can access the battery's to remove them they can be tested at any local auto parts store.

Suspect the charger is shot on a seldom used like new Companion II. The batteries are at 3 volts but the charger red light wont illuminate when plugged in. Green light comes on, but not the red. I did see...

MStrong The charger will not charge batteries that are reading that low Replace the batteries and try the charger again. Remember to always charge before use and never charge longer than 12-16 hours. Get into the habit of charging overnite on scooters used everyday and once a week on seldomly used scooters always sore the scooter fully charged and if storing for a longer time remove the batteries and store fully charged. ope this helps you

My Golden Companion II scooter is fully charged & it won't go

Hi.Sounds very much as if your brake unit has burnt out. If you bought the machine new in Feruary, then it is probably still under warranty.
Get your supplier to fix it for you.

When you say the charge is limited, how far do you travel? Also what sized batteries do you have in your machine? Bigger batteries mean you can travel further. Batteries last best if they are not run more than half flat while you are using the machine. You should work on half the distance that is printed in the pamphlet for the distance you can travel.
Do you always charge your batteries overnight after each use.
Hope this helps. Neil.

How long does it take to fully charge Golden Companion II bATTERIES?

Hi. Charging batteries is dependent on how far you travelled, the size of the battery, and the type of charger you have.
The best rule is to charge the batteries overnight after each use.
If your charger has an LED to show when the batteries are nearly full.
This LED is a guide only, and most batteries still need a few more hours of charging after the LED turns green.
Charging batteries is not like filling up a jug of water. Its a chemical reaction in a battery, and it takes time to charge them fully.
Good luck. Neil.

How long does it take to fully charge Companion II batteries?

Hi. Always charge your batteries overnight after each use. Do not charge your batteries for days or weeks at a time unless you have a good quality automatic charger.
Most 4 amp chargers, charge the batteries up to approx 28.5 volts, and will maintain this voltage forever if left on. This will eventually shorten the life of the batteries.
The Invacare 8 amp charger is a fully automatic charger. It will take the batteries up to about 28.5 volts, it will hold this voltage for a few hours, and then drop the voltage to 27.6 volts ( 13.8 volts across each battery ). These chargers can be left on for weeks at a time.
Good luck. Neil.
