I'm sorry to say this but these are signs of your computer's hard drive crashing. Hard drives (from what I've been told by other experts) typically crash after about 4-6 years of intense use. That's why I always recommend people backing up their important files every year. This has happened to my laptop before, I've had the same symptoms.

Now what about your files?

Well if you're lucky, you can ask a Geek Squad rep. from Best Buy or anyone else with proper experience to try to salvage your hard drive. Anyway you'd have to buy a new hard drive and replace your crashed one.

Solution: Take your computer to an expert to help you recover your hard drive files and replace the hard drive.

try resetting the BIOS to defaults. Also, make sure the wireless KB and Mouse works by testing it in another PC. Acer might be aware of this issue, so try calling them if those ideas do not help.

My wireless keyboard wont let me click on icons on screen only under programs will it work

Try the ALT + Tab or Windows key + D button a few times, then it should start / be able to click icons... Alternately : you can restart your system in safemode by repeatedly pressing the F8 button on the kbd while the system is starting (boot up screen), you should be at an advanced boot menu that should take you to safe mode - once you are in safemode the mouse should work well.

Hello, i currently use a IBM desktop with IBM keyboard and mouse but i just bought a microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse which i just installed into my desktop using the installation CD. They are both...

Hi Tony,
It appears that you have an IBM desktop whose BIOS isn't capable of booting off of a USB keyboard and mouse device. Older computers used to require that a PS2 mouse and keyboard be attached before booting, to prevent you from booting a machine without any way of controlling it. You have 3 options:

1. leave the corded mouse and keyboard attached and never use them
2. update the BIOS for your desktop to the newest one in hopes that the updated BIOS will allow for USB mouse and keyboard operation
3. go to a computer store and get a PS2 to USB converter/adapter. They're small and relatively inexpensive. It plugs into the PS2 port, and makes your computer think that there's a PS2 device connected, when it's actually a USB device.

Logitech s510 keyboard

I had this problem for a very long time as well. Turns out this is an encryption issue. It's off-balance. You need to reset the encryption, and here's how:

On the LEFT side of your wireless keyboard press and hold Ctrl+Alt, and press F12, then release all three buttons. Now push the Connect button on your Wireless Receiver, then the connect button on your wireless keyboard. Now press Esc. Try it. See if it works. It did for me.

There might be. Try the Keyboard and mouse on another computer and see if they work. By the way, are they wireless?
