Zune I have a 4GB Zune. It was working fine yesterday, but today when i plugged it into my computer it said that no Zune device was connected. Later that same day, i went to listen to my Zune and it wouldn't play any music. I can press the play button but nothing happens. I tried to restart my Zune, by holding the back button and the Zune pad, but all it did was take me to the front screen ( it never restarted). I tried restarting again, still nothing happened. Please Help!

To reset the zune you must press and hold the back button and the top part of the zune pad. Other parts of the zune pad will not work.

When plugging the zune into your PC does the PC detect it (device manager -> portable devices). You should hear the ding sound of hardware connecting.

If it is connecting to the PC and is not detected by the software than it is likely a permissions problem. Right click the software icon and choose run as administrator.

If it is not detected by the PC than check your usb cable and make sure your zune is charged and not frozen.

Usb device not recognized when i plug in my zune

Turn off the CPU pull off the power cable, unplug all usb cables, Let it sit for about 15 mins. Plug it back in start the CPU plug in your device. This will reset the motherboard, as just turning off CPU the motherboard still has power. If still does not work, you can either re-do windows, or get a USB/PCI Port Card, thatll have like 5 usb ports on it. And try that.

Usb device not recognized when i plug in my zune

do you have the software installed? or a older version installed? if so that could be your problem with the drivers. try downloading the zune 3.0 software directly from the zune website instead of updating ,  here is the link to the download page

http://www.zune.net/en-us/software/download/default.htm
Make sure you uninstall any previous zune software first!
Hope this Helps

My zune just stopped working

run the battery completey dead or you could possibly reset the device to factory default...

Try this....
Reset Zune: Press and hold the back button while pressing up on the control pad.
Connect Zune to a power source: If the Zune device is in sleep mode, this action will wake the Zune device and turn it on. If the battery does not have a charge, you may have to wait several minutes for the Zune device to turn on.

Also, make sure that the hold button on top of your zune is turned to the off position.

Hope this helps!

Zune locked

Go look on zune.net and then click support. My zune just did the same thing a little bit earlier and I was worried so I went looking on the net and found these entries. Under support it says:

My Zune 30 is frozen on the boot screen, now what do I do?
You will need to reboot your device after noon GMT (that's 7 a.m. Eastern or 4 a.m. Pacific time) on Jan 1, 2009.
Please unplug your Zune (no AC or USB cables).
Because your Zune is frozen your device battery will begin draining, this is good.
The battery will eventually be fully depleted and the screen will go black.
After noon GMT on January 1 connect your AC power or USB cable such that the battery can begin charging again.
Once the Zune has enough battery to boot it should do so normally and you can go back to enjoying your Zune!

My Zune 30 has been working fine today, should I be worried?
Nope, your device is fine and will continue to work as long as you do not plug it into the PC before tomorrow.
If you plug your device into a PC before noon GMT Jan 1, 2009 your device clock will be set to the last day of the leap year and you will experience the freeze issue. If this happens, see above.
The PC that you plug into does not have to have the Zune software installed in order for your device clock to be set and the leap year bug to occur so you should avoid plugging your Zune 30 into any PC today.

What if I have DRM content on my Zune?
Your DRM content will most likely not be affected by this issue. However, it is a good idea to sync your device with your PC once the freeze has been resolved in order to ensure that all of your licenses are up to date.

What if I took the advice on the forums and hard reset my device by disconnecting the battery?
This is not a good idea and we do not recommend opening your device up yourself. However, if you already did it…
If you have DRM content on your device, your DRM store is now out of sync with your secure clock.
You will need to wait 24 hours from the time that you reset the device and then resync your DRM licenses from your PC.
Alternatively you can format your device and resync the content.

HELP!!!!!

Does it require drivers ??

If it was working before then try the following
Click start, right click my computer and click properties
Choose device manager,
Right click on the list and choose scan for hardware changes ,, it should show up..

If it was not working before
The device should have come with a driver cd..
Install the necessary drivers off the cd ( the compuer should do it once the cd is inserted the auto run app will start and select install drivers)
If you dont have the cd log on the manufactures web sit and you should find the drivers for you particular model there along with the other applications you will need.

Zune

Try resetting the Zune by holding the up and back keys until it restarts (probably about 10 seconds) and then try to plug it into the computer again.
