Small diameter line out of fuel tank (has filter in-tank on end) connects to the side of the carburetor that has the fuel pump....that is the cover without the hole in it. Other larger diameter fuel line out of tank connects to the longer nipple on the external purge/primer bulb. The bulb "pulls" fresh fuel from the fuel tank to the carb and then out of the carb to itself, where it then pushes any air/old fuel back into the fuel tank. The remaining larger diameter fuel line in this setup goes from the metering chamber (has cover with writing on it and a vent-hole) side of the carburetor to the smaller nipple on the purge/primer bulb. Again, on the primer bulb, the longer nipple has a line going directly from it to the tank. The shorter nipple on the bub has a line from it going to the metering chamber side of the carb.If the purge/primer bulb is on top of the carb...small line from carb body to small hole in tank with filter. Larger diameter line goes from the bulb on the fuel pump side of the carb to the larger hole in the fuel tank where the line is held in place with a nylon nipple connector that keeps the line from pulling out of the tank

I have a 1999 Buick lesabre that is leaking gas from the area of the front of the gas tank near the passenger side back tire. What could it possibly be? The fuel filter maybe or a gas line?

Get a good mechanic to check the whole fuel supply system!
Is the filler hole that side? Fuel being a liquid can travel along surfaces so where it drips might not be where it's leaking.
The most common reasons for a fuel leak will be-
-a split or punctured fuel line.
-a loose or damaged filler neck joint.
-a loose fuel filter or it's housing.
It will be worth getting the fuel tank itself examined for damage as some older cars still used metal tanks.

Homelite UT-08544 fuel line which one goes to bulb which one goes to carb

I wish those posting answers could get things right.

The remote primer does not push fuel into the carburetor; it for pulling fuel mix through carburetor removing air line the system.

Here is the basic setup for a remote primer.

How do I fine a leak on Pontiac sunfire? Won't start just gas vapors like steam?

Well, you need a quick tutorial on your fuel system. Now to find a leak, stop trying to start the engine. You are only adding electrical charge to an already dangerous situation. Now stop and think this through. Modern fuel injection requires fuel under high pressure to operate. The injectors are immersed in this pressurized gas, as are the lines leading to them from the fuel tank's fuel supply line. So just by turning the key to ON, not start, you have initiated the process to start the engine, and that means the pump has operated for 2 seconds to put the fuel system under high pressure.

Now if you follow the fuel supply line (from the gas tank) to the engine connection, start here to find a leak. It is now under high pressure from here to the injectors on the engine- one for each cylinder-it should be dripping with gas somewhere. You could even turn the key to off after the pump has ran for 2 seconds. The fuel system is designed to hold pressure in the system for about 10 to 15 minutes, before slowly bleeding off. Enough time to search for a gas leak. A couple of other things associated with the system: there will be also a fuel return line from the injector rail, it goes back into the gas tank. both the supply line and the return line often run alongside each other. There is also a fuel pressure regulator, immersed in the fuel rail, a seal on that may have started leaking. If an air breather housing, or some cover prevents your seeing the fuel system entirely, then set it aside. You should be able to find the leak. Just be careful, have lots of rags handy, happy hands are learning hands.

I'm thinking you probably have already answered your own question.

Your standard fuel system usually consists of either a gravity fed system, whereby the tank is elevated on the chassis, fuel flows through the line into an inline fuel filter and then into the carb. In some systems, a fuel pump is needed to supply a better flow of fuel. You are basically saying, you took the filter off the line going from the pump to the tank, fuel flows freely which leads me to believe this may be a clogged fuel filter.

For this particular model however, there are literally dozens of potential causes, anything from a clogged fuel filter to improper fuel being used in the machine. Potentially, it could also be clogged or faulty injectors, in which case you are probably better off taking it in to a dealer to have them test that out and repair it if necessary.

Sometimes the injection pump shut off valve can be the cause as well, it doesn't reset like it's supposed to. The only way to really test that however is to simply switch the key back to the off position and then switch it back on, and see if it fires up.

How to repair the gas line. which line to go to? model# 358.791050

This is an ongoing issue for users, and rightfully so. The remaining larger diameter fuel line in this setup goes from the metering chamber (has cover with writing on it possibly and a vent-hole) side of the carburetor to the smaller nipple on the purge/primer bulb. Years ago on 2-stroke trimmers, primers were not even used,...you choked the carb with a slide lever and gravity let fuel enter the carb from above...a few pulls, a "pop"...slide it off of choke and away you went.
If the purge/primer bulb is on top of the carb...small line from carb body opposite bulb end to small hole in tank with filter. This is the carb supply line. Larger diameter line goes from the bulb on the fuel pump side of the carb to the larger hole in the fuel tank where the line is held in place with a nylon nipple connector that keeps the line from pulling out of the tank. This is just the fuel return line.

Cant figure out where fuel lines go on mccullogh chain saw

Fuel lines: one comes from the tank...has a filter in side the tank...runs up to the intake of the carb... you can tell by hooking up the lines to the carb, and put one into a gas supply... press the prime bulb... if it pulls gas, thats the one to hook into the tank...if not it 's the other... there should only be two lines a fuel supply and a return pressure line. Clean the air filter while you've got it apart....

Fuel filter 2003 malibu

The fuel filter is located on the fuel feed pipe, between the fuel pump and the fuel injectors. It will be a Metallic tube like item about 4 inches long inline with your fuel supply (feed) line. If you can lift vehicle or get underneath it, then find your gas tank, find the line coming from top of your gas tank and trace it out. Filter is uaully within a few feet of the gas tank.
