Do a search function with this remote control. Try to download the user manual to your remote control by internet, for details.

Remotes devices are heavily depened on it CPU chip,might the CPU chip is shorted and dead the remote is garbage.Tries take the remote aparts,take some Q tips dipping in some rubbing alchahol clean the PCB board and inner rubber layers,wait like about 20 mins. than putting it back together again put in brand new batteries,might get the remote to work again.Not try website like Remotes.com to buy an original or very close to the original remote.

try moving it closer to the sensor maybe. replace batteries ahah. could try gently cleaning the sensor or ring a technician :)

You may find that these don't work. Often, with combination pieces like yours, you will find you are lucky if you can get a universal remote to turn it on and change the volume and little more. The fact that Toshiba did not build this peice can compound the problem. My suggestion, if you can't get the universal to program up, is to use the original remote for the set. If you do not have the original remote it is available from www.encompassparts.com for around $15.00 plus shipping. The original part number for the Toshiba remote is 72796929.

This could be a fault with your remote control. It will need checking by a Television Technician.

You can clean the remote control yourself if you are careful. You will need a spray can of Servisol IPA 170.

• Carefully split the remote control unit along the seal between the top and bottom of the unit.
• Carefully notice how you then dismantle the inner components. (I lay the components out in the order I take them out of the unit).
• In a logical order spray, clean and dry each part.
• When you have cleaned all the components, reassemble in their reverse order of the way you dismantled the unit.
• Fit new batteries and test the remote control.

If this fails to solve the problem, you will have to take the remote control to a Television Technician for testing.

YES... Get a miracle remote, http://www.miracleremote.com/ for Toshiba and it will operate ALL of the functions like the original including access to the service menus.

I have the same problem with my unit. I use the original remote and my Tivo remote. Both stopped working at the same time. Ocassionally they will work for awhile then stop. They always both work or both don't. Therefore it must be the TV; likely the sensor or something connected to it. Sorry I don't have a solution. Guess I need to take it to the shop.
