Just power OFF the set by its main power OFF switch, and switch in ON, while listening very close to its mechanism side and see whether there is any sound of disc spin. If disc do not spin inside the mechanism, due to a faulty sled motor, the fault you descrbes here will occur. If disc spins inside, and still it does not reads the disc, the laser pickup unit is faulty and should be replaced. OK.

Just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and replug into after 5 minutes or so. This should reset the set to its factory settings. If it does not help you, just take out the disc inside, and insert an other one. See whether it reads it or not. If not, the set need service. Especially service to its DVD mechanical side. OK.

You need a Digital to Analog converter box as your TV is analog, and all broadcasts, since Last June 12 are Digital.

Sounds like the unit is bad, or set to the wrong Regional Code. Its not easy to set the regional code and it varies by model. You are better off buying a new DVD player given they can be found for under $30.

I made mine work by using programing the vcr button as opposed to the tv.

Orion ftdv2004a is a remote control model number. Please provide the make/model of the VCR itself.
