Hypotenuse being 10 makes the other sides of the triangle 5radical2. Area of a triangle is 1/2*b*h, for an isosceles triangle, it will be 1/2*b*b.
1/2*(5rad2)*(5rad2) 1/2*5*5*rad2*rad2 1/2*25*2 25 cm^2

Finding the area of a triangle in the coordinate Plane

I find the easiest way to solve these is to sketch them first (I'm a visual learner;) We get a nice right-angled triangle, with the right-angle at B. The formula for the area of a triangle is 1/2 * base* height or (base * height)/2.

We can use BC or AB as the base.

If we use BC as the base, the length is 9-4 or 5. The height is 6-2 or 4.

We can now but the base and the height in the formula to figure out the area.

Good luck.

Finding area of a Triangle in the Coordinate Plane

The area of a triangle is 1/2 times base times height. A sketch of the triangle in the coordinate plane will determine how easy or hard this will be to be. From the sketch, you will see that this is a right-angled triangle with B being the right-angle. This makes it easier because we can easily determine the base and the height to use in the formula.

We can chose AB or BC to be the base, while the other will be the height. If we choose the base of AB, its length is 4, the 6 - 2. The height is 9-(-4) or 13.

We can now put the length and height into the formula to calculate the area of the triangle.

Good luck.

I have a Minerva 44" Fan. I have Vaulted Ceilings with a 12-12 pitch. The down rod is 3/4 in. What slope ceiling adapter is recommended ?

Mike, a 12/12 pitch is 45 degrees. You may have to use a little math to figure out how far down to hang the 44" fan to keep from hitting the angle of the ceiling. Geometry specifically. Remember the A sq + B sq = C sq for figuring the hypoteneuse of a right triangle?? If the ceiling fan is 44", the base (A) of the right triangle is 22" with NO CLEARANCE to the angled ceiling. A 45 degree angle dictates the base and the height are equal, so height (B) of the triangle is also 22" with NO CLEARANCE. If you want a few inches of clearance, extend the height by 4" and there should be enough clearance to allow the fan operation.

I would suggest playing with the figures before you buy the extension rods though. The simple answer to you question remains however...45 degrees.

Trying to solve the area of a triangle

The are of a triangle is 1/2 * the base * the height.

So if the triangle is 2 for the base and 4 for the height. it would be (2*4*1/2) or 2*4=8, 8*1/2=4. So the area of the triangle would be 4 square (until of measure).

Of course this assumes you know the base and the height of the particular triangle.
This site might be a bit more helpful for calculations where some of the numbers may not be known. Good luck!

Two people are on a trip a person is going north 300 miles. the other is going east 400 miles. at the end of their trips how far are they apart

It is a right angled triangle. The answer is the hypoteneuse. What is more this triangle is the classic of its type, a 3-4-5 triangle, so the answer is 500 miles.

What are the different formula in solving the area, height, base of a trapezoid?

o find the area of a triangle, multiply the base by the height, and then divide by 2. The division by 2 comes from the fact that aparallelogram can be divided into 2 triangles. For example, in the diagram to the left, the area of each triangle is equal to one-half the area of the parallelogram.
Since the area of a parallelogram is area_parallelogram_form.gif, the area of a triangle must be one-half the area of a parallelogram. Thus, the formula for the area of a triangle is: area_triangle1.gif or area_triangle2.gif where b.gif is the base, h.gif is the height and · means multiply. tab.gif The base and height of a triangle must be perpendicular to each other. In each of the examples below, the base is a side of the triangle. However, depending on the triangle, the height may or may not be a side of the triangle. For example, in the right triangle in Example 2, the height is a side of the triangle since it is perpendicular to the base. In the triangles in Examples 1 and 3, the lateral sides are not perpendicular to the base, so a dotted line is drawn to represent the height.

Why is tan90 not defined?

The tangent of an angle (in a right triangle) is defined to be the length of the side opposite the angle, divided by the length of the side adjacent to the angle (that is not the hypoteneuse). As the angle approaches 90 degrees, the length of the opposite side gets very large and the length of the adjacent side nears 0. At 90 degrees, the length of the adjacent side is 0, and division by 0 is not defined, so the tangent of 90 degrees is not defined.
