The tone arm drops onto the record, but then continues moving across the record without playing the record. Anyone know what's going on?

Does the needle actually contact the record? If not, you may be missing a "pad" under the record, or you may be simply missing the needle that needs to be there to follow the grooves.

My H.264 recorder has stopped recording--the 4 cameras still show on monitor

There are a number of possibilities. 1st: Make sure the record button is activated. (Simple I know: but check it!).2nd: Go into the menu & make sure that the camera's are all set to continuous record, not motion detect or schedule record. 3rd:Check hard drive status. If your hard drive does not appear in the hard drive section, it means it has failed & needs to be replaced.

Fan on Dish Network's VIP722k DVR is continually running.

Hello, this is Nick Franta with DISH Network Customer Support.

It is normal for the fan on the 722k receiver to run often to cool down the system. If the receiver is in an enclosed space that could cause the receiver to overheat which would make the fan run continuously.

If you have any further questions let us know.

Tape will not run

The "will not run problem" was solved by replacing the CR-2025 Lithium battery. The eject symbol continues to appear sometimes and I can remove it and continue operating the camera by turning the power supply "Off then On" again. Camera is now running a recorded cassette but quality of picture is low.

Continuous beep

Hello. The TRC8080 will coontinously beep when trying to record if the tab switch (this is described in the service manual a Tab Switch S3, S4) fails. The tab switch consists of two leaf switches one is so the machine know there is a tape in the machine and the other check for record protect. Over a period of time thee canbecomebent anwill not always connect when a tape is in. This wll result in you either not being able to play a casette or not being able to record depending on which one fails. These can only be replaced as a pair. If it is not the tab switch which has failed then the cassette tabs on the top may be bent in slightly which means you will need to replace the cassette.

If the tab switch has failed and you dont want to pay for a repair you take the 5 screws out of the back of the machine, lift the top cabinet off (disconnect the single molex connector) and short the switches together. (Solder is best) this will leave the switches perminatly in the 'on' position meaning you can dictate away.

Remember if you shoose to short the switches together the motor will run as soon as the cassette lid is closed and the machine is on. This may make the motor fail a little bit earlier than normal.

DVR to DVD Recorder

Hello Steve,

I know what you are asking for, and yes it can be done but not how you want to do it. The DVD recorder has coded into it software that prevents the DVD recorder from copying copywritten encrypted material (Video Cypher or Macrovision). What you need is another device to prevent the effects of the encryption (a company called SIMA makes devices that do this) the DVR would connect to the SIMA device and then to the DVD recorder.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,
