I have a Western Digital 320GB external drive. Model # WD3200XMS-00 Naturally all of my photo's are on there (im a photographer) and it's not mounting to my mac desktop. The hard drive appears to not be spinning up and the blue light on the front blinks constantly. My fear is that the hard drive is shot and i have not back up my data in a long time. Suggestions? (aside for $1000's for data recovery.) Should o try opening it up and putting it in a new enclosure with new connections? UGH! help!

You might get lucky. I've seen it happen where the enclosure board is the problem. The external enclosures are cheap enough. Make sure you get the right one. In your case it is more than likely a SATA drive. You can also try replacing the board on the drive itself. Try communicating with WD to see if they can help. If the drive did not experience a head crash you should be in good shape. Try youtube if you feel like taking the drive apart yourself. As always, the data is always more valuable than the hardware. Good Luck and let me know how it goes.

I have a WD external hard drive and need a new power cord. model # wd2200h1u-00 where can I find one?

for those, you can use a generic power cable as long as the voltage and amperage matches the original one. Take the old one with you and head to a radioshack.

I have a western digital external hard drive and im using the getbackdata software to try and recover about a 160gb of data. eventually the blue light goes out on the hard drive and software...

Your hard drive might be failing. Or it is possible that GetBackData might have a bug. Have you tried the latest version of the software? Try a different software to see if that helps. There are even some freeware data recovery softward utilities out there. Google for them.
