GE JNM1851DM. only 6 months old and it is dead. Worked fine and then all of a sudden stopped working. The wall outlet has power so I know it is not a breaker in the house. Nothing works on the micro. Any ideas what it might be?

I have a GE Spacemaker microvave oven that was working perfectly for the past 4 years. When installed, we were told that the outlet did not work, so to get the microwave working, the cord was pulled out...

Perhaps the microwave's main supply fuse has blown.Open the cover & check it in the power supply section.Be careful & discharge the big capacitor first as there is very very high voltage present inside even after switching off.

Totally dead microwave

I'd first check the power outlet "under load". A hair dryer or a toaster make really good loads to test outlets.

Otherwise, at two months old, it should be under warranty and you should be able to get it fixed or replaced free.

Consult your owner's manual for the warranty and manufacturer contact info or contact the dealer you purchased it from for that info.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Worked yesterday, but this morning is totally dead - power at the outlet is fine. Is there a master fuse somewhere? Aprox 4 years old. Thanks,Pat.

Dead appliance, power on wall outlet.

YOUR SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT!

Attempt this only if you are competent.

If your appliance has absolutely no functions at all, remove it from the mains supply, remove the case and see where the mains lead goes in to the appliance and follow the cable until you find the main fuse.
ONLY USE THE SAME TYPE AND RATING OF FUSE TO REPLACE IT.
The usual cause of this fuse failure is the door switches are contaminated or sticking. Check the door switches before putting power back on to the appliance.
Hope this helps.

Convection microwave oven suddenly stopped

If there is no power to the unit at all, no lights, no nothing, but there is power at the outlet, then you are most likely going to need a new board. the Electronic control board controls everythign on that unit. I woudl call GE direct for service, adn depending how old it is they may be willing to give a parts and or parts & labor concession - they are usually pretty good about that kinda stuff.

GE Sensor Microwave JES1855 died

Mine went dead after about 6 months. I had problems with my breakers and I found out that it was the microwave that blew all of them. I also found out that this perticular microwave is a fire hazard and should be recalled. It has caused me alot of headache. The breakers in my house are brand new and they are put out by GE also. It caused me to loose the food in my freezer, I did not know my freezer had lost power. It would cause my entire lights to go off and then they would come back on. I have checked around and I found out that the power cord on the back of the unit is very loose. I had a person to come in and look at it, he thinks its the power cord.

GE SpaceMaker Microwave suddenly stops while heating

I had same problem last week. My GE JVM1650 Spacemaker stopped after a few seconds of heating. Owned 16 months, manufactured Jan 2005. It was the magnetron, which was replaced yesterday. The magnetron has a 10-year warranty, but I had to pay $161.00 for labor by a GE technician. The call-out fee was waived at my request. I don't know what that amount would have been, but I can't believe the $161.00 for what was about 1/2 hour labor once diagnosed. Good Luck!
