Radio "boots up" but just stays illuminated with the Sirius logo. No chirping tones on start-up, no going to any stations.

What does "rehot" mean, and what does "IC" mean? Also, you say to "Select the Factory Default menu option" - how do I do this if all I have is the Sirius logo illuminated on my screen?

  • Anonymous Aug 26, 2010

I'll ask the same question as before - How do I "Select ?Yes? to restore all factory settings or select No to cancel and return to the Menu Options screen" when all I have on screen is the illuminated Sirius logo !?!

If under warranty get a replacement. If not, you are beat, they are dead when they stop getting signal and you have tried different antenna. It's sad but true.

The "hideaway tuner" is bad. On the antenna input board there is a cold solder joint and it looses it's ground. If it's out of warranty you can get a rebuilt tuner on Ebay for about 50.00 This has been a huge issue among sat radio users for the past three years.

Hope this helps

Hi

Check for the +12V wire to the radio and disconnect it from radio. Or you can disconnect the leads to the battery for 2-3 minutes. After this try and reset the Sirius radio to factory defaults---
Select the Factory Default menu option.
Select “Yes” to restore all factory settings or select No to cancel and return to the Menu Options screen.
Hope this helps... If it does please do not forget to accept the solution or post back for assistance.

Hi,

Your Sportster is freezed, you have to reset it.else some time loose contact in the internal wiring may cause this. You just check for the soldering connection and rehot it.
Please see any of the IC gets to heated,If it is too heated that is the IC you have to replace or rehot it.

The Factory Default option will restore all original factory settings in your SIRIUS Sportster radio. Note that factory default will not reset the lock code if you have changed it from the default lock code.
To perform a factory default reset:
Select the Factory Default menu option.
Select Yes to restore all factory settings or select No to cancel and return to the Menu Options screen.
If Yes is chosen, the radio reverts to the original factory settings for the following parameters:
All presets revert to empty
Reset to Normal Tuning Mode
Reset to default screen (with 2-line PDT display)
Reset previous power state setting to: Off
FM Frequency Setting: 88.1MHz
FM Transmitter: On
Game Alert: Clear all favorite teams
Jump Settings: Clear jump setting
Display Brightness: 80%
Display Contrast: 50%
Auto Memory Search: On
Clear all S-Seek stored entries
Audio Level: -3dB
Confirmation Tone: On
Clock Format: 12 Hour
Clock Time Zone: Eastern Time Zone
Clock Daylight Savings Time: Observed
Alarm: Off
Alarm Time: Cleared (12:00pm)
Program Alert: Off
Program Alert Time: Cleared (12:00pm)
Program Alert Day: Cleared (Monday)
Program Alert Channel: Cleared (184)
Auto Shutdown: Disabled
Sleep Mode: Off

After this pulling out power adapter would reset the unit.

Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

thank you for using fixya have a nice day:-)

    Hi,

Since you mentioned "no going to any stations".I thought it hang's up some times only.

Please understand this could be cause due to two reasons
    1)Memory details corrupted
    2)Hardware failure

If Memory details is corrupted, you should go for reset.Since you say it stays with logo screen.
You should pull out power adapter would reset the unit.

    Please open the Sirus:
IC-Integrated board. The electronic circuit board might be damaged or the wires may be loosened. You have to replace or rehot(this will make the wire contacts stronger)

rehot means-is a process in which two or more metal items
are joined together by melting and flowing a filler metal into the
    joint.

If you don't have hands on in it.Please take it to the nearest service centre...

    Thank you,
    guru_fixya

Have sirius and hands free phone features with sirius antennae. I do not get good signals from local FM or AM Radio stations. Why?

Sirius is a satellite biased service , so it uses a satellite antenna , local stations how ever don't use that antenna and use a dipole antenna , are both type antenna's connected to your radio , lots of installers don't bother to connect local antenna to new radio installs , im mean you got Sirius why'd you want local stuff anyway is there thinking

Just bought a car and it had hardwired sirius radio already installed. I called and activated it with Sirius radio and tried to get assistance from them on how to get it to work. They gave me instruction...

The "hard wired" version that you speak of apparently only refers to the power supply.Do you have a seperate display for the Sirius unit? Now, you failed to mention the type of radio (factory or aftermarket); so, if you have to use an "empty radio station" then you have an FM modulator. This modulator could wired or wireless. The wired version interrupts the vehicle antenna wire and the station on said modulator is usually preset to either 88.1, 88.3,88.7, or 89.1. There is no need to power this modulator up, it comes on when then Sirius comes on. One way to check for power is to turn on the Sirius unit and tune your radio to an occupied Fm station. Wait a few seconds and listen to the reception. Turn off the Sirius unit, the reception should improve for the occupied station. If it is a wireless FM modulator it also has preset stations that you can change but, extending the wieless antenna will greatly improve your reception of the Sirius stations.

04 Santa Fe Issues

I would look for a ground that is inadequate.
If any part of this is operating essentially without shielding due to a bad ground, then cell towers, a radio or TV station transmitter, CBs, land mobile radio, amateur radio - any of these can inject enough signal to drive modern electronics completely bananas.
The onboard electronics used for just about everything that is remotely controlled by switches generates a ton of digital garbage and can interfere with anything.

The kind of problem you are experiencing started when we stopped using vacuum tubes 50 years ago operating at high voltages and started using semiconductors that use much lower voltages.

A tech with a common multimeter should be able to locate the missing ground connection without too much trouble.

Sportster 4 not working...

I had the same issue. This is what Sirius calls a "Frozen Unit". There is no bypass, unfortunately, and it must be returned.

I had mine for 3 days and it froze on the Sirius Logo screen when booting up. If you bought the unit from Sirius, you must contact their E-Commerce department. If bought from a retailer, take it back to the store.

Sorry, mate.
