Kenmore 655 ultra wash built in dishwasher

My dishwasher is not cleaning at all. It was working, but now is not. We had trouble with our hot water and installed a water heater but the dishwasher is still not working.
We had a plumber fix the water pressure problem in the sink but the dishwasher is still not working. He said the heating unit looks like it is getting to hot.
When I turn it on, I do not hear the water running like I used to. Is there anything I can try before paying a small fortune for the repair guy?

Any suggestions on how to get the cutter chopper from Solution #2 back in? "Remove the chopper. It is on a spring loaded pin. Pull the cutter foreword while lifting the filter disc straight up. " We just can't get it back in.

Possible problem is that the chopper/cutter filter is plugged. This prevents water circulation and therefor no water is available for cleaning.
Solution:
Remove the dish baskets.
Remove the bottom cleaning arm - Rotate the centre post and the arm can then be removed.
Remove the conduit that feeds the upper arm(s) - Remove screws, one at the back and one at the top. Rotate the whole assembly 45 deg right and lift off of the centre post.
Remove 4 screws in the plastic assembly and lift it off of the centre.
Remove 1 screw at left front (Under assembly just removed). Lift off the plastic cap which covers the cutter/chopper. Remove the chopper. It is on a spring loaded pin. Pull the cutter foreword while lifting the filter disc straight up. Thoroughly clean the filter disc - a knife will be req'd to scrape in clean.
Reassemble in reverse to the disassembly steps.

How do you open the soap dispenser on a Kenmore Ultra Wash dishwasher?

Push the little lever sticking out of the dispenser.
Maybe you have some calcium or hardened soap that is holding the lid closed. some Lemi-Shine powder dissolved in hot water and use an old toothbrush to clean off the soap/hard-water deposits.

The top rack on my kenmore ultra wash 3 dishwasher does not come clean and now even the bottom is starting to not clean

First perform a vinegar cycle wash in the dishwasher. Pour a cup of vinegar into the bottom of the dishwasher. Keep the temperature at the highest setting possible and perform a wash cycle. Then start using a dishwasher most probably that would solve the problem. If this does not solve the problem then there must be some parts worn out or faulty creating the problem.

There are many probable causes of failure .

To clean the dishes the water temperature is essential. It the water is not hot then the dishes will not be cleaned properly. So check the water temperature.

Also check the filter in your dishwasher.Clean the filter if there is accumulation of debris in the filter

If you are in an hard water zone , then try reducing the amount of detergent used and then try cleaning the dishes.

Kenmore 655 Ultra Wash- dishes not getting clean and have a residue on them when done washing. Arms appear to swing freely.

Does the dishwasher drain the water properly at the end of the rinse cycle. Meaning, is there any leftover water at the bottom of the dishwasher.

Make sure you run water in your sink until it is hot before you start the dishwasher. On the newer dishwashers they will fill and drain until the water is hot enough so it takes longer if it starts with cold water. Normal time for a basic wash could take about 45 min.

No hot water when washing dishes

sounds like it was hooked up to a coldwater line instead of a hot and your heating element in the dishwasher went bad from overload or your pc board went bad but i would check to see if it is hooked up to hot water line first..
