Hello, my wireless is not showing on my computer and when i go on device manager on my computer it has a question mark on ethernet controller and say erro code 28, how can i fix this?

You will need to open up your network connections click start control panel network connections this may vary depending on your operating system look for local area connection if you see a Red

X or a yellow Exclamation or Question mark !?
you will need to update or install the driver or it could be firewalled.

If you are trying to connect through a modem/router the driver should have come with a disc provided by your ISP internet service provider or your motherboard disc

You only need to do the following if you cant install the driver

Make sure you Ethernet/internet is enabled in biosRestart your computer during the boot up process you will see on your screen a certain key to

press to enter set up (BIOS) usually the Delete or F2 key press and hold that key to enter bios using arrow keys scroll to intergrated peripherals.

Look for SiS On Chip Pci Device press enter scroll to SiS 10/100m press ENTER make sure its enabled

If you are still can't connect to any Wi-Fi networks after following the steps above, you may need to have the laptop serviced or have its wireless card replaced.

Plug in the Ethernet cable to the PC, go to device manager via the control panel and your wireless network adaptor will show there (under other devices) with a yellow question mark next to it. Right click it and select update divers.

Install the chipset driver first, the you install LAN driver and the appropriate Wireless LAN driver. You would probably find which wireless card you have by looking under your computer, there should be a sticker.

you must ethernet controller driver first
goto device manager, right click at exclamation mark, then chose update driver, follow instuction step by step, if it ask for cd driver insert motherboard cd driver, if you did not have cd driver download ethernet controller here

wait until process finish and exclamation mark at device manager disappear, and try to connect your computer to internet

Here are the stpes that you can try..Go to Device Manger select ethernet controller, then right click, select Properties and then select Uninstall. After this re-install your Ethernet driver. The yellow question mark means that the computer is not detecting the device.

If you have windows Vista simply Right Click on the entry in device manager and choose Update driver (Requires working internet connection)

Else use the following drivers (Works on XP and vista)

If you are using Windows XP, go to Control Panel > Network Connections. Right click on Local Area Connection and then click Enable. (This is only applicable if the ethernet port is disabled).

Also, you may go to Device Manager (Right Click My Computer > Manage > Device Manager) and then check if the ethernet is disabled or has a question or exclamation mark.

If both dont work, your ethernet controller is broken.

Nothing wrong with having two network adapters installed on your computer. If you have this DWA-552 wireless adapter installed as well as an onboard NIC, the correct thing to do is have both drivers installed so you see them both in your Control Panel->Network Connections window.

If you really want the onboard nic to go away, go into device manager and disable it - not uninstall it.

You need to reinstall the software for that, if its a ethernet card built in to your motherboard you can find the software for it from the motherboard setup CD , and if its a additional device to your computer just run the setup CD for it to reinstall the software back....
