All gas burners have a low setting while switched to high.
can't get any one of them to go to high. then leave it alone
for about a half hour, they light right up, and burn at high
setting no problem.

I've had this happen before, first make sure that the black burner cap is clean underneath and it's making good contact with the aluminium burner, also make sure the igniter is sparking across to the burner, check the ceramic coating around the igniter isn't cracked or the wires shorting out . Good luck.
Are the burners uniform around top? Pictures show that there is a slot on one side. The tech is probably right.. You are not the only person complaining about this. Call back and see if there is a different burner that will fit you stove.
Center burner won't light: If there is a bright spark (check all ignitor points at night with the lights out and look for consistent brightness of the sparks) then it's likely that the burner slots are dirty or the air/gas mix is wrong. If you can light with a match, but the spark won't light, then go for cleaning the entire burner assembly thoroughly with a brass bristle brush (available at most automotive stores). The proper air/gas mix has to flow over the spark to ignite. Weak spark, improper air/gas or misdirected gas flow that misses the spark can all cause this issue.
RR burner lights only on low setting. Again, check the air gas mix and clean all parts. Something like a small spider web inside the air mix chamber (area between the orifice and the burner can cause this and is difficult to see. Disassemble, clean thoroughly, reassemble and test. Extra low simmer burners (two on the left side) use their own control module with electric gas valves and variable electric control switches. The burner works on low, so these are not likely the problem.
Most folks want to find a bad part, and that can happen, but stove tops get dirty and cleaning usually helps. If not, you have a clean top to work on.
The indicator lens and/or the retainer are either broken or the retainer is missing. It's best to replace these as they are not expensive. When the top is off while cleaning is an perfect time to replace the lens.
Your gas inlet valves are turned up to high or there is air in your system. Most of the time the burners are set either to high or to low. Meaning that not enough or to much gas pressure is being forced through the system.
Hi, try following the pilot tube back away from the burner. You should be able to see a small screw used to adjust the pilot gas to that burner alone.Sounds like it is almost shut off. Turn it CCw to open it and set the how high you want it if this is a standing pilot. You should get the gas flow you need. I'm sure this is the problem. Best of Luck, Shastalaker7
you set it fro low and goes straigt to high???? no adjustment in heat setting either of or high?? if so youll need to repalce the infinte switch controllins that burner
