We have an 1961 International 240 Tractor and would like to know if there is a plug or dipstick to check the hydraulic fluid. We just put a new hydraulic pump on the tractor but are unable to find the place to check the fluid. Thank you.

I own one. Most have a plug in the top of the trans/hydro case to the left and rear of the gear shift leaver. It takes a 3/4" drive to open it. I use an extention and brake bar or ratchet. The fluid should just all most reach the opening. the books state it should hold 8 to 10 gal. I have found my 460 Utility holds almost 20 gals.

I should have taken an oil sample and let it determine by a oil analyze laboratory. Every hydraulic company can fix that for you. It doesn't cost much. If you mix the wrong type of oils, you will be sorry to spend not that little money. I don't know the quantity.

look for a tank reservoir with a dipstick. Locate the pump or cylinder and follow the line back to the tank.
