when you are holding the spool on which you wind the string wind the string on in a anticlockwise direction
if it uses 2 strings ( one out of each side of the spool
wind in both strings together in the anticlockwise direction
that way , when you put the spool in the head and go to use it , the string is wound the right way to feed out and not get tangled
Not avoiding the answer but if you google (" re-string a weed wacker video?" ), you can watch a video of how to do it, which may be a lot easier to understand when you see it.

I bought the electric grasshog trimmer. Worst investment I ever made on Garden supplies. The line is completely gong within ten feet of trimming. I've used it four times and gone through twenty spools. In the trash now.
