Whirlpool Duet GHW9250ML2 when the machine is off it is filling up with water, unplugged it and am having the same problem with it unplugged, thought it might be the inlet valve but think that would need power to work
It sounds like you're probably looking in the right place...it's possible that the inlet water valve is stuck open or simply defective. Turn off the water, turn off the power, remove the hoses and check the inlet valve. The valve could be stuck, have something in it. You may need to remove the inlet valve(s).

Water valve is stuck open. Is water hot or cold that continues to flow? That's the part of the valve that is stuck open. You can use if you shut water off at your pipe. It's when they are stuck closed that you cant use until you replace water valve.. and if you dont know, that's the part the hoses connect to on your washer, usually with blue plastic threads. Careful not to cross thread when reinstalling hoses.
