Hi i broke the chuck on my 1/2 makita cordless

I answered that question already on another post, but if you need to know how to remove the chuck I have detailed instructions in the TIP SECTION on how to do this. Let me know if you need more help

Try tightening short end of an allen key/wrench, in the chuck, and give it a good smack counterclockwise.

The chucks on most drills are left hand thread. To be sure which way to turn the chuck check the screw the chuck will turn in the opposite direction.

the chuck should open all the way then look down the old one attached to the drill there should be a screw near the end undo the screw and then it should come off :)

there is a flat head screw in the center of the keyless drill chuck counter clocwise to remove.

There should be a Screw in side the end of the chuck were u put the drill bit in u will have to undo it back wards its got a left hand thread

Hi there, the chuck will screw onto the spindle of the drill but there is also a screw to undo. Open the chuch out fully then look down the centre of the chuck and you will find a philips head. The thread on the screw is opposite to the normail way so instead of undoing to the left, undo to the right.there should be threadlock on the screw so may be abit tough for the first turn. Once removed a strong pair of grips and a good tug should then remove the old chuck, some are more orqard than others to remove so just keep trying.

Put the chuck key on and strike it with a hammer counter clockwise. the chuck key must be properly seated in the hole. Once the chuck is brokrn free, you can unscrew it my hand. Buy a new chuck an screw it in olace and againm strike the key but no as hard clockwise. It will self tighten more as it is used, Good Luck-Ned-

After removing the screw and inserting the allen wrench shift the drill to the LOW position and turn the clutch to the drill only position. Use an allen wrench about the size of the chuck capacity so that it will not flex when hitting it with a mallet. Sometimes they are stubborn because of the torque but this should work. Put the allen wrench at about a 30deg angle and hit the wrench. I support the chuck on a workbench or a block of wood will do fine. The chuck has standard threads.
